In that case, Square Enix will need tons of more server power, and to put the game into maintenance mode for a year+ in order to do the massive changes required to upend the technical debt affecting the foundation of the code.

So, you might want to whip out the chequebook and give Square Enix a nice cool 100million deposit to pay for all the lost profits for that time frame and to purchase the hardware! Such a good samaritan ^_^

I've worked on big AAA game titles before that have their own online infrastructure, so I can peer well into the minds of the FF14 team & its devs from my own experience. Going back and fixing something, especially once it has had many systems layered on top of it, becomes exponentially longer, tedious and costly than just taking the L and working around them. Unless someone is going to pay Square Enix for all the lost profits from putting FF14 into a maintenance state to fix their technical debt, it won't be getting fixed.

Like I said, either waste time and energy whining about it, or understand it and live with it, or vote with your wallet by leaving the game.
