"Here you may access the orchestrion to play your favorite tunes"
Can we set up an automatic playlist like we can in our apartment, or is it just like the inn-room one that nobody uses because manually selecting a track every time is annoying?

Highlander females at least do have really similar ones. I just popped onto the aesthetician and these are all very similar to that set from Lost Ark. 1, 3, and 4 of the LA pictures could almost be the same hairstyle too so those look pretty generic and samey to me but manage to look different in XIV.I can't speak for the males because I don't consistently look at their CC options. For females though we don't have hairstyles anywhere near those. The closest to something similar would be #2, which is very similar to Yotsuyu's hairstyle and is not available to players. I would be one happy camper if we had even two of those options.

Who died and made you the Eorzean Fashion Police? What someone else wears isn't your business or your choice.
"All they have to do is sacrifice their self-expression. Why is that so hard?"
*honk honk*No i will always hate that, this is a game, if you wanna play a trap, sure, if you wanna play a girl, enjoy, but no, if you play that huge roe or hrotgar and just wanna wear a skimpy dress... just no...
Overall the notes look good and i love the new pvp mout.... finally a dragon.
Then we shall have to agree to disagree on the matter. I do not consider the recent hairstyle additions in FFXIV of the quality appropriate for 2022, and I do not consider especially the male ponytail to have sufficient texture quality compared to the female variant. The hairstyles you have listed are either racially exclusive, released in 2013, styled in stiff or unnatural ways, or in the case of the Hime cut you have posted not used by the playerbase at large due to issues with its design, specifically with how it looks from the back.
Speaking of how hairs look from the back, this the quality that is able to be achieved when the fear of clipping is overcome. I would much sooner dress my female characters in clothes that avoid clipping than be forced to have hairstyles that are gender neutral and generic, for lack of a better term. FFXIV needs to step it up in this regard, the sooner the better. The standards for character customization in this game must be held up if not raised further. Once more, accepting the status quo is not to FFXIV's benefit while other games far exceed these restrictions.
Identify what is causing the limitations, and overcome it. Whether that is resources being taken up by other projects, rearranging the list of priorities, or fundamental flaws at the design/modelling stage. Even WoW offers more unique and fantastical hairstyles for both genders of their races than FFXIV does. 50+ short to mid-length hairstyles that don't match with the fantasy of either gender simply doesn't help matters much. Of these more recent releases, aside from the Adventurer hair and Form and Function I cannot think of any that the playerbase would be quite upset to see exchanged for something of higher quality.

That's fine. That's your opinion. The question was do we have similar hairstyles already and we do. And most of those aren't racially exclusive. I popped over to my lala alt and found almost all them minus whatever I didn't have books for and maybe one other. The hairstyles you posted reminded me of that "Can I copy your homework" meme. They might have texture quality but they feel very flat and feel like they lack any sense of individuality to me. Only the 5th one seems to display any sense of variety and one thing we can say about XIV's hairstyles is that they don't lack in variety. It's not always variety to my personal tastes, but it is wide and varied. You have a point on clipping, but if your idea is the "standards" need to be boring and samey hairstyles, then I'd stand in complete opposition to that. Has nothing to do with status quo and has everything to do with individual taste. Then we shall have to agree to disagree on the matter. We're getting graphic upgrades have to wait and see to what extent things will be improved. Got to love the negativist comparing a newly released game to one that is 10 years old. Perhaps wait and see what the upgrades bring and then complain.
Overall FFXIV looks great in 4k on my system so I'm still pretty happy.

Yet still, they keep adding gender locked gear/variants :s
You really have to be "that guy". dont you?If only the resources dedicated to removing the gender-lock from those Mogstation only gearsets were applied towards modeling new and original masculine and feminine hairstyles. I am not impressed by the ones displayed in the notes nor do I benefit from removing the genderlock of those gear pieces, most of which I never see people even using in game. I feel that they should reconsider their priorities in this regard.
On which server. Yours? I have seen more than a few on JP, NA and OCE servers.that are incredibly rare to see being used in game.
