    can anyone provide proof that Dusty Tomes exist or is "The Five Ages" not canon?

    I stumbled upon this wiki article
    https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/T...ean_Chronology
    Which also reveals that weeks have 8 days and months have 32 days. But it's citations leads to nowhere. There is no ingame "dusty tomes". Can someone post proof? Like a video of someone opening the time or whatever? I can't really trust this with no actual source

    That was old 1.0 lore - the 'Dusty Tomes' were items you could view in each class Guild Hall back in FFXIV 1.0, and gave those little tidbits of lore. However, as you've noted they have not returned in ARR, and some of the things they mention may possibly have since been retconned (the '8 day week thing' for instance might be a holdover from FFXI, which also has an official 8 day week in order to give each day a name of one of the 8 elements on the elemental wheel).

    So yeah, take them with a grain of salt.

    There is a furniture item of the books as a reference to them. They just can't be read anymore

    And quite possibly a gag too since it says the pages are "blank"

    Oh, of course, I forgot about those (even though I have a stack sitting on my shelf in my private chambers!)

    Also the Minion Guide descriptions for the Wind-up Mithra, Tarutaru and Elvaan minions mention, with tongue firmly wedged in cheek, that "stacks of dusty tomes" being supposedly used for information of the aforementioned races, furthering the gag given they're from FFXI of course.

    The game world actually does have 8-day weeks and 32-day months; you can see the latter in character creation. They probably do still have 8-day weeks, it's just not important because the WoL has never head to deal with the concept of 'store closed on weekends'. The only people who do have to care are people scheduling regular RP events, and take it from someone who does: writing in the 8-day week is WAY harder than just handwaving it and saying 'it's on Sunday'.

    There's also the confounding fact that the official Eorzean term for a week is a sennight -- which is an archaic English word derived from 'seven nights.' But all evidence suggests that an Eorzean sennight is... eight nights. Maybe it's like a baker's dozen?

    There's also this fanfest 2014 interview conducted a year after 2.0's PS3 release.
    https://gamerescape.com/2014/10/22/f...pher-koji-fox/
    Does that mean it's still canon for 2.0? I mean, they still have 32 day months, so mathematically, it can't be any other kind of week besides 8 days.

    Koji briefly talks about borrowing some of ff11's time system. And he didn't quite reveal the order of the days or anything. (He mentions 3 days by name but they aren't in order of any system in ff11 weekdays nor ff14 lore) That's up to you to figure out. I'm just looking up stuff and there is some differences. Ff14 has more days in the year than ff11 years have. I'm not totally sure if there's any meaning to FF11's order of weekdays. i'm comparing to its list against its elemental cycle and I'm just .... blanked out lol. Now, back to ff14, The Five Ages text doesn't state day orders either, but it does have repetition of the same element orders twice: the order for the hours of day, and the months of the year share the same beginning and end of the set. A decade on the other hand (an epoch) starts at The Navigator, the wind element, instead ice as the previous entries. If I'm just following the more repeated cycle, I propose this is the order of the days of ff14

    Iceday -->Watersday -->Windsday-->Lightningday -->Firesday--> Earthsday--> Lightsday-->Darksday

    Light and dark nomenclature is eyebrow raising, but I thought to use ff11's day names since it fits with the interview with Koji Fox outright saying 3 days of the week by name. And plus it's kind of cute Wednesday equivalent happens to be Windsday, and Monday is named after the moon goddess's element.
