Correct me if I'm wrong. But as far as I remember, ending the partner stance automatically removes the standard finish and esprit buff from their partner. You can accidentally fat finger & end the stance as soon as you initiate Standard Finish, stripping your to-be partner's 5% damage buff for the next 30s.

I see no reason for them to not do some QoL improvement to make swapping more fluid like SGE's Kardion outside being an oversight. Being a DNC sometimes in DF contents or helping filling up DPS slots in friend's static I will always swap partner around to who I consider the best performer or temporarily if my old partner died getting that weakness/BoD for a time being.
