I don't care if it isn't a Viera but...
If it doesn't have ears like a bunny and isn't a girl then I don't want it.

If we do get Viera (and I think we will get the race - if not the name) I hope they go with the FFXII 'quiet and and elitist' design -
Rather than the FFT:Advance cutesy approach - (we already have cutesy Mi'qote)
What will really be key is if they get the voices right for them.
Don't want them to go the slutty route though... its far too pedestrian and an absurdly easy-target when designing bunny-girls. (leave that cheap crap to the fly-by-night MMOs).

People view them as a cute race, and I do not.
They are spiritual wood living creatures. They have ways opposite of the races we have now. Their lore is quite interesting and seeing them in Eorzea is no problem for me. PLUS I would LOVE to see male counterparts much like the male Miqote.

I do think they could tie viera lore into Eorzea very well, of course they would have to hail from the black shroud, perhaps natural enemies of Gridania, and the 2.0 Gridania storyline could be based on these two enemies. This^^^^^^^^^^

I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned Viera voices. I love their voices and accent; it added a richness of character to Fran in FFXII. Whatever race SE adds, I hope they can portray a depth of culture....What will really be key is if they get the voices right for them.

Mammalian-like could mean we get a class of beaver people. Short, squat, and with a wide-flat tail.
I pray to Marduk we don't though.
On second thought the riot that would cause in the playerbase would be fun to watch.
People choose bunnies over draconians? <_< Who are you people

I hereby name thy mammalian race "Carrotboobs" ---> Karybous

Point is, viera are already too much like miq'ote; a cute race with slightly animalistic features. If you need animalistic, leave out the cute, I'm not playing Pokemon or Kirby here.
This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.As much as it might hurt you, and as much as someone else brings the balance issues up, FFXI had the jobs right. And, you know, this is a FF, and I don't see you guys complaining about people asking for WoW things. So please.
Also, it's not like this dev team is being true to the roots of the jobs anyway.
