Will casters/healers ever get non-robe sets?

With Sage being added this expac, and red mage being added in SB, we now have a healer and a caster that don’t really fit the traditional “mage style” aesthetically.

Despite this, time and time again almost every single caster and healer set is a bulky gown, usually sharing an exact set with the only difference being dark/light colors. Red mages are literally doing back flips in combat. It’s hard to find a good red mage glamour.

The new crafted set is the latest example of this. That scouting set would really fit a job like red mage.

Does the JP community have similar complaints? Or is this mostly an NA complaint?

Dunno about the JP community on this one.

But it is rather telling when the best glamour for Sage or Red Mage is either specifically locked to them (AKA: Artifact Gear) or it's a general gear not tied to any gameplay role.

Honestly, not to sound ungrateful for all the hard work Square puts into giving us content but you're absolutely right. I saw these new gear sets and I was thinking how bland and similar they look to gear we already have! They did such a great job in Shadowbringers ( Endwalker was okay too) when it came to outfits.. what happened T_T

Discounting generic "fits-all" glamour gear. The only caster gear that don't fit the robe aesthetic on this expansion alone are:
- Imperial Coat of Casting (bit oversized, but then again I am playing a large-body race and stuff doesn't fit me well by default anyway, I look like I'm in oversized PJ's)
- Palaka Vest of Casting (teeters the line)
- Ophiotauroskin Top of Casting (recycled Neo-Ishgardian model)

Even on Shadowbringers you always had some frill on the bottom. Meanwhile what OP is asking is for stuff that isn't just simple linen, contains a bit more armour or is an actual jacket along the lines of the Scouting\Aiming\Striking gears. Which casters almost never tend to have. Whenever there's a new patch, you're more likely to see the same plain robe\full cloth sort of gear rather than anything more ornate or varied.

I'd say that the Radiant's Healing set also doesn't fit the robe aesthetic. It's armor with a fabric skirt attached.

I genuinely really like the robes overall but I miss the shorter jerkins and jackets we used to get now and then. They were great for showing off my favorite boots. The black/white versions of the same robe are also an aesthetic choice that gets tiring quite a lot of the time when the physical job sets are colorful. Colors are nice.

My RDM glam options are based on the Neo-Ishgardian set (the male version works very well) and AF, because it just looks ridiculous wearing most caster gear.

I personally lump long frills and skirts with "robes". Because that's literally what it is in a way: it's the same aesthetic, just done differently. It might not "be" a robe. But it looks and behaves as one when we're observing it in-game.

(adding that "when observing in-game" clause bc I know people will say "Oh but they feel nothing alike IRL". Which... yeah... not IRL xD the issue is that the game has far more limited physics and looks, and so the third person experience feels super similar)

Im not really a fan of robes for red mage or in general so ima be glamming over it with my casual wear glams lol
