Xbox 360 + One Controller Drift post Windows Update

    Hi team,

I'm getting the right stick camera drift, the camera is continuously moving which makes this unplayable with a controller.

I have been using a wired X360 controller for years and a windows update came and now the controller drifts.

I use: Windows 10, I play via Steam

    I have tried the following:
    • Reverting the Windows Update
    • Recalibrating the controller in FFXIV
    • Testing the X360 controller in a gamepad tester, it is within 5% accuracy of the center point
    • Using two different, close to brand new, wireless Xbox One Controllers with the USB dongle (not BT)
    • Disabling/Enabling "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator".
    • Using different USB ports/hubs

Hopefully someone has an idea of what to try next.

    Thanks.

You mentioned steam, so maybe steam controller config.

it could be possible that if your stick was off centre when the update was applied it got registered as the centre position and saved.

does the XIV client show the stick centred even when the camera is moving?

Steam Controller config hasn't worked for me, the controller is working fine in the Steam UI but FFXIV has "Device not located" for Controller config.

All sticks for all controllers are a little off, XIV is picking up on the 0.1% misalignment and going with it. However, this only applies to the right stick (camera), my character isn't walking around slowly if the left stick were being treated the same way.

does the XIV client show the stick centred even when the camera is moving?
When I look at the calibration controller graphic, the one with all the arrows that show what you are pressing on your controller, the right stick is not indicating any movement. So as far as the XIV controller configuration menu it considers it to not be moving/not moving significantly enough for the game to respond. But then, the game itself and the camera is slowly drifting lol.

It does seem to convenient that windows update was the only change made and now it's broken. I've just checked windows update again, and even though I reverted the update, it's still showing as installed! I'll revert again and see if that changes anything.

    Greetings Adventurer!

We would be happy to assist with your concern. Please try the following troubleshooting to see if this helps with the issues you are experiencing with your controller.

    - Try to uninstall and reinstall the controller drivers. Additionally, be sure these drivers are up to date.
    - Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and your controller as the only devices active.
    - If you have a specialized gaming keyboard, we would suggest trying a different keyboard to be sure it does not conflict with the controller in any way.
    - Try unplugging the controller and restarting the computer without it plugged in.

If you do not see an improvement, please feel free to respond to this thread for further troubleshooting.

Have you tried changing the stick speed in the Character Config > Control settings > scroll to bottom of tab and edit the "Camera speed" this might help, it did for me with that same issue, might want to try some of those other stick settings as well. One of those options makes it require more or less movement on the stick before it will start moving.

    Thanks both.

    I have so far tried:

    - Uninstalling and reinstalling the x360 controller drivers
    - Starting and restarting the PC with the controller not plugged in
    - Changing the stick camera speed in the Control Settings window

No luck with any of them. Note though that changing camera speed does have an effect, it slowed the movement but doesn't stop it outright. This makes sense as my issue is not that the camera moves too much/too fast, but that it moves with zero input from me/XIV considers my 1% misaligned controller stick to be a valid movement.
