Please stop asking for "instanced housing"

This. It makes me really nervous when people keep asking for this because what they're asking for is my absolute nightmare. Losing neighborhoods would be awful as a designer.

So you lose the ability to show off, big whoop. Do you not care about 90% of the player base or just your own selfish and egotistical needs?

Island Sanctuary is wasted space that should have gone to solo instances housing. As is you have infinite islands per player. So why not infinite housing per player?
I'd move out in a heartbeat if I could swap my small house to a medium. But I can't because every system since day one has been nothing more than a band-aid on a gushing wound. I could put like 3 Mansion in the space island Sanctuary allocated for the "home" area of the island. Why not be able to put an actual house, it's mind numbingly dumb they even did this because it pisses people off even more proving to us they CAN do large solo instanced areas, they CAN do instanced housing.

The thing that makes me nervous about it is that devs have yielded to really dumb ideas in the past that people were constantly screaming about in the past. When housing was just walking up and buying it, people were screaming that devs need to do something about house flippers because obviously that's the reason they don't have a house instead of them being to lazy to get up at 3AM once a year and run to the plot they want when maintenance is over. Or camp the aetherite to see if a house opened up. So, to combat house flippers, the devs implemented the random timers which lead to plaquard clicking for days on end where nobody was happy and the house flippers just added bots to do the clicking. Then everyone screamed they wanted a housing lottery because that would fix all their problems. Now you have to have 12 x 50 million Gil to get even a fraction of a chance to get the house and all the FC wards are bought up by flippers still. People on this forum just need to be quiet because they have terrible ideas when it comes to "fixing the housing shortage"

The current system doesn't work. If you don't want to "lose entire neighborhoods" to instanced housing then square enix needs to evict people with accounts that hold more than 1 house and evict FC that are either reasonably inactive or not utilizing the house. There's a FC down the road with 3 "players", the house is empty and never once used. The "players" are just alts for a main who clearly just pops in once a month to reset the demolition timer, it's a total waste and there's no reason for it.

How can you possibly know it's not being used? Are you camped out, watching it, 24/7 ?

While perhaps "housing doesn't work" for you, but it works just fine for many people, such as:

• the people who have a house and are happy with it, and
• the people (probably very numerous) who don't care about housing in the least and would rather CBE3 not waste precious dev resources changing it.

I would like everyone to have the option to add an actual house to their island. It would be pretty awesome to be able to build an S then upgrade to M and L using the workshop, etc.

It doesn't work fine for many people, you're spouting BS and you know it. There can be 100s of bids on FC plots alone, more proof the system doesn't work. Waste precious dev resources? You know what resources they have? You know what their workload is like? Island sanctuary nonsense proves you wrong here too, they clearly have plenty of time to work on side tasks.

Trophies are from challenges being accomplished, creating artificial demand because of a bad system isn't a challenge it's bad design.

I don't want a house nor have I ever sought to buy one but that doesn't mean I can't see the system is broken and the overwhelming majority disagree with you. You then come up with excuses for the devs while at the same time they implemented island sanctuary, proving they have not only the resources to do instanced housing but also the server capability to handle it.

A lot of small FCs are created to buy a house solely for workshop access because you can't get it any other way. It's one reason why some of us would like to see workshops detached from housing and added to another location. It would reduce some of the demand though it still would not be sufficient to get everyone a house that would like one.

Last I saw, no. Even if there were it's just another issue of personal FCs eating up the already limited supply. Your idea isn't bad, hell with island sanctuary it even provides SE another easy route for workshops.
