    What New Content Types Might You Like to See?

    Imagine that the devs had promised to add 2 new types of content before 7.0. These content types are to be "positioned nearer to the core trio of mainstay content —Dungeons, Trials, and Raids— than to side-content like Exploratory Missions, adding to the mainstay content leading into the future while shaking up the existing formula to some degree."

    What do you imagine, or would prefer, they might be?



    Ideally, pass us a tentative name and what kind of minutes' length (or likely span) you imagine this content would have.

    How about a mode with very large, randomly generated maps where you have to locate something, such as treasure or a missing person. Defeating enemies gives you clues or data until eventually you have pieced together the coordinates to your goal, at which point you're faced with a boss. There are many kinds of randomly placed things you may find along the way, such as trader npcs with helpful items or buffs.

    I'd dig it. Any idea as to the intended length of the content and likely deviation, or a name for it?

    Maybe salvage or rescue mission. Runs could vary in length a lot depending on the group and rng, so let's say 25 to 45 minutes.

    I'd really like to see something that uses the pvp skills as a base for content similar to Boszja, maybe a large scale enemy onslaught with continous waves of enemies rushing towards your group with random aggro. Or a true battle raid style enemy NPC conquering. Something that requires no set role with skill customization like the logos/bosja actions/essences at it's core. Maybe like a tower defence style mode would fit this type of battle system quite well too

    tl;dr - PvE content with PvP skills

    Just to borrow from the recently teased sidenote, any interest in a sort of PvEvP Battle Royale or Survival mode where one can acquire further actions (by learning additional skills or through unique weapons)?

    I'd love to see the addition of proper open-world dungeons, or dungeons instanced ala Eureka (I also mean that the dungeon would be the size of a Eureka zone), where you have to complete multiple puzzles and objectives by working together. 'Dungeons,' as they are now in the game, the name tag, should be changed to 'Missions,' because that's what they essentially are - there are no dungeons in the game yet!

    I'd also like to see open-world leveling content - that is, tough monsters that you exp chain in a party, as an alternative to 'Dungeons,' Bozja, PvP, etc. Perhaps extra exp could be given if you reach a certain chain level, or perhaps a treasure chest.

    Yoshi stated outright back during the ARR Beta test that he actually hates this style of gameplay (as in, open-world FFXI-style EXP parties), and instead he wanted to implement what he termed "content based EXP", in other words EXP gained through completing objectives likes quests, dungeons and FATEs, and which ARR was designed around accordingly. Given that FFXIV zones can't really accomodate this sort of thing anyway (they're far too small and with few too enemies to support lots of EXP parties), I do not see Yoshi changing his mind.
