I like the promise of assassins.... the plots could rival the dark vampire cult in Skyrim. I want the darker side of FF.
And housing... if it's like FFXI I say meh... But if we get full castles with tangible outsides and real beauty... YAAA! I want a tree house!
As far as the poll went... everyone was obsessed with the things they don't like in the current game... Expected anything different?

Tanks, heals, DPS. More "roles" (if you're going with this where I think you're going) are going to muddy the waters. Stuff like "puller" and whatnot are roled into DPS anyway. What I think people are looking for is more variety as far as classes/jobs rather than actual roles.Also on the thing someone mentioned about Dark Knight. I want it as much as the next person, but you have to look at it on a large scale. We need more "roles" in this game. Adding in DRK would just be adding another swing at the mob job. We need something unique for players. A stealth or pet class fits the description. Musketeer I would vote also if it can differentiate itself from Archer to the point it is it's own class. So basically, I welcome anything unique as long as it is useful.
Not really. It depends on the group of people. If they can tell you know how to play and simply lack the gear, they will help you. And its easier to help when drops and the loot system can be used to gear someone who is behind everyone else (more gear drops, including zone drops for dungeons as well as revamping the loot pool to be shared all the time). Though I have to admit, current linkshell structuring and features don't encourage the pooling of LS resources, and specifically the storing of gear to help members gear up. We really need stuff like LS banks for that sort of thing.
I agree 100% with this. Jobs should be interchangeable in their roles so that people can play the job they like rather than be situationally forced into different jobs.I do truly believe in 2.0, the new server structure, people will depend on someone who is well geared and experienced over what job they are. To make an example, lets say you are doing Aurum Vale and need a DPS for Mizer. Today, you would pick someone who can use their Monk on Mizer. But I believe in the future, you will pick a DPS who is well geared enough to help take Mizer down quick. Jobs should not have an extreme advantage over another.
There are much more weapons than schools of magic in Final Fantasy. There'll always be more melee.We need mage classes first not just one. We're sitting at 5 DoW versus 2 DoM, adding more melees would simply widen the gap.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Red mage uses both White and black magic and should be centered around melee, and Time Mage = Green Mage in some games, also Blue Mage, whilst having mage in the name they are a melee class and thier blue magic is more abilities.
So actual mages (from what you said) as in back line classes that primerily use magic and no melee are White, Black and time/Green and summoner.
Strago had very weak melee. And to my recollection FFV's Blue Mage was also relatively weak in melee. XI reinventing Blue Mage to try to get the melee Red Mage crowd to shut up is a different story altogether.

Pulled from the Final Fantasy wiki
Blue Mages vary in equipment and physical prowess. They are not as weak as other Mage classes in terms of attack or defense, and are usually capable fighters.
