Same issue here as well. I suppose if buying the game on Steam is my greatest regret in life, then life really isn't so bad... but I'd still gladly pay to convert the account to non-Steam.

I made that mistake last time... once you do get connected, then it starts the whole download and patching process... and if you don't have a backup of your UI, you get to do that again too.

We got screwed over by Square Enix when they forced the Steam client for Steam users. Worked flawlessly before that. Guess they really want to give Steam users an inferior experience without giving us the option to convert.

I'm still having an issue. Tried everything I can think of. Rebooting my PC, toggling Steam beta opt in off/on, looking for an ECT folder I can't find, even rebooting my modem. Error does not resolve.

Edit: Even if this is a Steam issue it's still a SQEX issue because SQEX forced players to link their accounts to Steam. If there was a fee to migrate my account off Steam I would pay it. This is ridiculous.
