How reasonable a goal is a glam from a stormblood extreme trial?

Ok, so... I don't do "hard content" really. I come from WoW where eventually "older" hard content's cosmetics become... basically an unwritten inevitability for the casual player to solo farm in their sleep two expansions down the road (If they ever kill this arrangement, WoW will collapse under the weight of a casual exodus haha), and this was my cosmetic endgame.

But this isn't WoW, and I am grateful that this isn't WoW in almost every way... except one.

Related... I love the weapons, the glow-less weapons that one can get from Tsukuyomi's extreme mode. I realize it can't be solo'ed, and reading the mechcanics it looks like that will never change, and that's fine...

But how "inevitable" is an unsynched kill to a level 90 group? I started playing in shadowbringers and I generally told myself not to set my eyes, ever, on anything with the words "savage" or "extreme" involved, and I've generally kept to that rule... but this is the first moment I've wondered how hardline that rule has to be because... damn, I love the "hyper asian" look of Tsukuyomi's stuff!

So, the question: If I form an unsynched group, how likely are we to down her? I'm not interested in like... mastering this game. I was good enough to beat the MSQ and I do all my dungeons with trusts. I'm not *terrible* but I *am* older and observe that the "effortconomics" of tackling "holy crap difficult" content is outside my purview... but like, 2 expansions of overgearing has got to make up for some of that... right?

    ... right?

Seriously though, what is the reality here? Is my brain going to just melt by walking in with an unsynched group to get a pretty sword?

My group does this kinda thing all the time. I would even argue it’s more fun this way to see how much you can get away with (low man, speed running etc). In addition, for me, figuring out how to get around the mechanics or skip them all together adds a bit of puzzle to the mix. Alexander Burden of the Father is a good example of this that can be duo’s very easily if you figure out how to avoid insta wipe/death bits.

Without knowing too much about your specific trial unsync’d, I don’t know how to offer advice on it other than try it out with some friends and just have fun. Worst case it’ll end up on Khole’s wondrous tales someday.

Most extremes become easy to farm unsynced, but Tsukuyomi has a mechanic that most parties find very difficult to coordinate. If you beat that single mechanic, then you can clear it. It might become possible to kill it before that mechanic has finished, if it hasn't already, but you could just study the mechanic. All that needs to be done right is for the tanks to place their meteor north in the tip of the crescent, dps to place their's south and healers to place their's at the opposite east or west side of the crescent color. If this is done right, it doesn't matter who dies provided someone who can raise survives and gets the party up.

If you're worried you can watch a video guide before hand that explains it, but at lvl 90 you are skipping a lot of mechanics. I'm sure you'll be fine lol. Lots of people walk into the last tier of savage unsynced and expect it to be a cakewalk, so you already have more foresight than them. Just say you're new to it and people won't be frustrated.

Ok, this question i can offer some insight into. This was the last of the doggos that i needed to farm. I tried to get it done at the end of Shadowbringers, but bad party luck(the one mechanic Jeeq mentions*) lead to my putting it off. I picked it back up this summer, and have recently(within the last 60 days) put a night into unsyncing this fight. The fight can be killed by a duo if both know what to do and play well enough. With a party in the 3 - 5 or 6ish range you need to place the markers right for the meteor mechanic, then one or two people need to be in the safe spot when everything explodes and then they can either finish the fight or res enough of the team to win. I experienced all these variations while farming for my mount. But if you can get it, theres a gold standard. A party of 1 tank and 7 DPS will typically defeat her before the meteors even become a problem. I literally remember walking into my first farm party for this over the summer. When i joined, i asked if we were doing the typical strat for the meteors(the one i learned in Shadowbringers, the one Jeeq mentions). No one knew what i was talking about(or at least didnt react to it). Their plan was just to get enough damage that the mech didnt happen. And true to form, it worked. From there its just: waiting for your piece to drop, waiting for you to win a weapon coffer, or you to complete the fight 10 times and get enough totems to turn in for the weapon you want. So in case i wasnt clear OP, this is totally an achievable goal.

*And i do mean bad party luck. Back then you ran a fairly typical farm group alignment to make the fight easier to handle - 1 tank, 1-2 healers(usually 2, but one could do it if they were good), and 5-6 DPS. The mechanic "randomly" assigns a meteor to a tank, a healer, and a dps to be dealt with(if any role was missing, the extra would be assigned at random among those left). So the one tank would always have the same meteor to deal with, one of the 2 healers would "adjust" to the open end(the healer part was easy - just run to the opposite side from the colors and group then run back once the meteor was placed), and then one of the 5 DPS at random would have to put the last piece in the right place. So the problem you would see time and again would be that 2-4 of the DPS would know what to do, and if the right person got the marker(and noticed, and didnt panic, and reacted fast enough, and didnt get turned around) you would be fine. But if the wrong DPS got the mech they wouldnt do it right because "in the small color close to the end of the crescent" was clearly too hard(or it would go to the right person, but they were out of position/looked away for a second too long/a dozen other ways to screw up a mech even though you know it). If you were lucky there would still be a safe spot in the tanks side, if not there was no place to stand to avoid death and the party wiped to Supreme Selenomancy... over and over until they got lucky with the correct DPS getting randomly chosen by the meteor. Or after 2 or 3 wipes and trying to explain what to do someone would leave, and the party would break up. Or the worst would be the party would be great, and everyone is excited to spend an hour or two farming so everyone can get the drops they wanted. Then after one or two wins the mount would drop, and then the person who won would leave the party. Along with several of their friends who were only along to help. And now the 3 of us left are screwed and back into the PF hoping to get a good group together again(or just as likely, all quit in despair). I was seriously so down about this last november that it took me almost 6 months to put "doggos" back to the top of my to do list.

Having now seen the fight with a party of 5 (I wanted at least one healer), I believe this. This will be what I aim for now. If one of those 7 is a red mage that knows the fight better than I do, it feels like it'd be pretty easy. Thanks for your input!

People farm SB exs all the time. You can even solo roughly half of them unsync'd at max level.

At this point a full party can probably skip the meteors... I say as a clueless player who has only done it unsynched enough to know that the meteors tended to be messy – but I joined a party recently for Wondrous Tails and asked for a reminder of what to do, and they said I didn't need to worry about it any more.

We're about to have a new tier of equipment so whatever state it's in now, it'll be even easier in a couple of weeks.

A full party of geared maxed level characters will always be able to down the extremes of last expansions content easily enough. You have more skills to employ that will trivialize some of those mechanics.
