Alts. How many do you have and what do you do with them?

I have 3 other alts now. One level 80, another level 74 and I just made a new alt yesterday to experience all the changes that have been made in ARR. The trust system and condensing parts of the msq. I want to see how much you can solo through the story and what does one who solos miss out on in the grand scheme of things that really requires a party of 4 or more to achieve.

I have no alts, but I can see why people do.

I'd probably have made one to raid if I wasn't a bit bored of the game in general. Loot lockouts when helping friends and the alt job gearing process are very restrictive.

I have one alt I made for banking but ended up not needing it anyway.

I've noticed over the years people mention their alts and whatnot and sometimes people say they have like 3+ alts and I'm just curious what people do with them.

I've had my Renalt since before Heavensward and I've still not done everything on that one character. Granted lately I just mess around in Balmung Shout Chat these days but there is just a LOT to do.

I played with a single character from 2.3 until just before EW released and was happy with that. I eventually wanted to play through ARR and HW again on a fresh character to see how the changes worked and refresh myself on the story so I made an alt. Now I use her for RP and to play jobs that don't fit my headcanon concept of my main. The main's still the one I do all content and "gamey" stuff on, but I'll switch to the alt to help out friends with roulettes or derp around when I don't feel like being on the main.

I have one alt. It's a lalafell 'wind-up' lookalike of an NPC. I use it to join other NPC events/parties for fun. Still haven't put them through Endwalker as I tend to hardly ever play them at all.

Mine are just there for playing with friends overseas. There's really no other reason needed imo since transfers end up just being a colossal waste of money if you ever want to bounce back to your original world/DC. Skipping through the story still takes a bit, sure. But getting back to level cap to run high end content doesn't take long afterwards since XIV doesn't rely on layered RNG for gear drops.

I have 3 alts. Two that sit there not getting used(may one day use them, but so much to do on my main I honestly don't know if I will touch them again), and one that I used to attend a friends EB and haven't even looked at since.

I think I have around 7 alts. 1 is at the end of post MSQ for ShB. The others are in various stages of SB(That story grind suckkssss)

I have one alt on NA, originally to meet people there and maybe play with them. But then I kinda lost the drive (the latency is atrocious) to do that so I've just barely finished 2.0 on that character. I then used it to check in on a certain FC house and havent logged back in since.

I made one alt for easier subbing/ helping out during raid lockout and ended up playing it a lot more and it's now my main. And my former main will be my raid alt. Keeping two characters decently geared, especially on different roles, is a hassle and I'll see how seriously I'll do it next tier but it's nice to have the option.

I have one or two old chars on Shiva where I played before transferring to Zodiark, one of them was for playing with a friend that wanted to play the story with me but they ended up quitting post 2.0 so I don't really use it anymore. I only used it once to help a friend get a house by throwing my name in in their name and that's it. The game doesn't feel alt-friendly enough for me to actively play them, I've been a notorious altoholic in other games but being unable to transfer things between characters without having my own FC was a bit of a dealbreaker for me.
