Playing FF14 mostly on my Desktop Computer while at home but would also like to play it on my Laptop when not at home.

Have copied the SquareEnix directory from the DC to Laptop, the Login screen appears but logging in is unsuccessful, unauthorised access or something like that and suspend account temp.

How do I go about having the same running on both computers ?

Do I have to purchase FF14 again and pay for another subscription ?

No, you don't have to get a new license.
I've run from my one account (one license) of two different desktop PCs and a laptop.

However, I never "copied the SquareEnix directiory," I always downloaded and installed the game on each system.
Then I backed up my character settings one the main machine using the backup function on the FFXIV character select screen, and then downloaded those setting to the other machine using the restore setting in that same tool.
Worked fine -- except on my Surface Book laptop, but that's only because the game is unplayable at 10FPS.

First time I transferred computers, it did require a password reset cuz it assumed unauthorized access.

Curiously, second transfer didn't do that.

I use 2-factor authentication (i.e. one-time password) via the SE app (partly to get the free teleport location). That may be why I did not need to do that when I went to play on a different PC.

Don't forget that you can xfer your character/system configuration by clicking or selecting the gear icon to the right of your character's name in the character select screen!

If you want to install FFXIV on another computer without losing any settings/configuration first go to ;

C:\Users\useraccount\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn and save/backup ;
FFXIV.CFG
FFXIV_BOOT.CFG
MACROSYS.DAT

And the most important ones your character settings, they are located by the name of FFXIV_CHR00409234805 folder (for example).

-Then download/install the game on your Laptop ( Just do it instead of copy-paste so you won't get errors or stuff like that)
-Log in with your ID/password and then you account will get blocked (it always happens because your account gets linked to your trusted device aka your Desktop) do a reset password and problem solved.
-Enter in the game with your character and log off (so the game will create the folders in Documents/My Games/ Final fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn)
-Copy/paste the backup folders on your Laptop (FFXIV.cfg,FFXIV_Boot,Macrossys and the FFXIV_CHR00 etc)
-Log again in in the game an voila now you have everything like in your desktop (HUD settings,macros,glamour plates,keybinds etc)
