    massive lag on startup screen

about a week ago, my game and computer crashed in the middle of a cutscene. i was worried about other issues stemming from that and only recently logged back into ffxiv. my fps is down to 1 on the loading screen and just as bad in game. i even skipped the cutscene i was dropped back into hoping that would help. i tried changing the settings, uninstalling and reinstalling, and anything else i could think of or find on google. i'm trying the repair feature right now, but i don't have much hope.

is there anything else i can try or am i just out of luck?

You didn't mention that you've actually cycled your hardware. Have you cycled (power off / wait a few seconds / power on) all your hardware?

I don't mean to be glib at all; cycling hardware is simply the first step of any troubleshooting, and I want to make sure you tried it =)

Don't just restart or reboot. Cycle everything and then see where you are at. I doubt seriously that the modem or router are involved, but it couldn't hurt to cycle those as well.

    Good luck!

I am in the same boat you are. About a week ago, I started getting lag in game which I have never encountered in almost a year. It got progressively worse to where the launcher even was taking 15 minutes to get to play, I hit play and get a black screen. I have spent the past week reinstalling the game, updated everything, messed with settings/config files, and watching dozens of youtube videos tweeking everything. I still get the black screen. I was able to get in game yesterday once, but the lag was so bad, I couldn't do anything. I disabled firewall/antivirus didn't work. Weird thing is I am able to run and play ESO and LOTRO fine.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

When this occurs is the PC connected to Wi-Fi or are you using an Ethernet cable? In addition is this the Windows or Steam version of Final Fantasy XIV?
