Rez Macro Broke?

Hello,

Not sure I'm posting this in the correct spot, but figured GD is more highly trafficked than other forums, so decided to post this here. Anyway, I'm wondering what's up with macros, if anything? My rez macro on my RDM has stopped working as of the last major patch, so about a month or two now, and I cannot for the life of me figure out the issue. It just does nothing now. No text, no cast, nothing. Making a new macro won't work. I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to why it would just suddenly break like that? It's so weird. For reference, my crafting macros still work.

Any help or insight into the problem would be much appreciated.

But on another note. Don't use a Rez macro. Even if you're not trying to merge SwiftCast + Rez together in a single macro button, the one line notification of "Player X has been res'd" gets old really fast, no matter how witty you make it.

Plus any other healers/rdm/smn on your team can usually tell when someone's being raised. If a player on your team is knocked out and you see or hear a swiftcast go on, mainly on your healers then you can be certain that someone's getting res'd. That also goes for you too though.

So you’re proposing targeting your cohealer and then targeting the dead party member just on the off chance your cohealer might be quick on the mark? That sounds unnecessarily cumbersome.

I know they added the party list numbers that are supposed to indicate when someone is raising and who they’re raising, but those are far too brief for a Swiftcast > Rez. I don’t even think they register on anything but a hard cast. They should make it more obvious. I have heard of a certain tool that actively highlights and name of the dead person in the party list and inputs the name of the healer that is raising or has raised the fallen teammate. That seems like a good idea if it’s a thing, and maybe SE can add it to the game properly so everyone can use it. I would in a heartbeat.

A chat macro doesn’t hurt anyone. If you dislike them, disable the chat.

EDIT: Inb4 “but I need the chat open to communicate with the party”—well, that’s what a Raise macro is. Communication between the raisers.

There's nothing wrong with having a macro to put a simple message in party chat in a situation with multiple rezzers. I definitely appreciate it in PUGs. Things may be hectic. You may not be able to tell who used SC or who's targeting who. A notification in party chat makes it crystal clear who's already handled which helps when you're trying to get multiple people up in quick succession.

Even with a macro, it breaks in alliance raids as other parties cannot see this (and while you normaly should focus on your own, if a diffirent party is struggling, and yours isnt, assisting them can help a lot).

I think the only good solution would be if anyone that has a raise cast on them, instantly gets an icon to indicate this. It wont prevent 2 people instacasting a raise there (which can happen anyway due to lag), but it at least wont disrupt slower raise casts and waste a lot of time that way.

If you hear the other healer use Swiftcast--it's a very distinctive sound--just wait to see where the Raise buff goes. If they're hardcasting, their cast text in the party list says the number of the party member they're targeting.


If you're going to put a party message with a sound effect, please at least put a <wait.1> on the action line so that if you ever spam the button the party message only goes through on the last push.
But really, with the changes to the party list casting text, raise macro messages are largely unnecessary.
