Would it look like that?
I thought it was a funny concept when I came across it while looking at some old RPG images. It's Rei from Breath of fire 3. I think it fits perfectly insanely buff Miqo'te with way more body and facial fur.![]()

I still question whether or not the Hrothgar are genetically from the same lineage as the other more human-looking races or if they're a situation like the Arksodara and are rather exceptionally well-integrated beastmen.
In one of the Encyclopedia Eorzias there is a brief section that questions, what is the difference between a "beastman" and a "man" (man meaning the generally accepted player races.) It posits the only difference really is politics of the more current eras.
The Elpis business implied that some of the sentient races of Etheriys were creations rather then direct descendants of the sundered Ancients, which I why I wondered.
Well, Rei is a Woren, and he's a bit on the scrawny side since he was an orphaned thief just like the other main characters in Breath of Fire 3. The Woren are more like the Au Ra in terms of physiology. The men are all huge and buff, and the women are lithe and skinny. Sometimes they possess the ability to hulk out into weretigers. Which is more or less an extremely buff Hrothgar with much longer limbs/claws.
More on topic though... It's somewhat hard to say until we see female Hrothgar. I'd think it'd be something like the Ruby Princess and the Hyur marriage situation though. Every time the interbreeding happens, what appear to be the more dominant traits/less human traits are significantly reduced. I'm imaging a shaved Hrothgar more than anything.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
I'm honestly not sure what they're going to do for female Hrothgar. The males are pretty clearly meant to be anthropomorphic lions, which works well enough; replace the mane with hair, and you're good. Female lions (generally) don't have manes, though, and removing such a key piece of character creation is a definite no-go. I guess the best we can do is look at the few pieces of art and character models of female Ronso, considering they're also an inspiration for the Hrothgar.
