    please let us get out of using steam

    I bought the game on steam almost 10 years ago, and its one of the worst mistakes I've made since I've been locked into using this client since then. I bought the game ages ago not knowing if I'd like it and now I'm locked into it with thousands of hours logged on my character. I would pay FULL GAME COST if I would be able to buy the game on PC again to avoid using steam to access the game. But I cant because steam counts as my PC license to it. I even used to use just the regular game launcher to use the game but you took that away from us in the 5.0 days due to concerns with security.

    Please let us have options to get away from using Steam as the only interface for the game

    There wasn't a really good option to choose under the categories, so I just chose "In-Game/Game Contents" for the Contact Category and "Known Issues" for the Contact Sub-category.

    I explained the issue in full, advising that it is affecting a large number of users, asking them to please intervene on our behalf and liaise with Steam to resolve the problem. Hopefully something will come of it.

    I encourage everyone else having this issue to submit a ticket to support in the same way. If enough of us do it, Square Enix will perhaps take notice and prioritise a fix.

    Just to add on to the pile, this happens at least once a week, and if FFXIV is going to require steam authentication the least they could do is comp time for every time this happens.

    Personally, I would pay for new PC licenses just to move off steam. No more service outages preventing me from playing, no more locking up family sharing for people I share with while on FFXIV, just a way better experience overall.
