    Chocobo name unavailable

    I started my FFXIV adventure as a Lalafell with a chocobo named Nugget. Right now I have changed my character to an Elezen and I coloured my chocobo Grape Purple. Since Nugget didn't really fit my chocobo anymore, I decided to rename him to Grape, because of his colour. When I do so, the game gives me the message: "That name is unavailable". Is this because the word Grape contains a bad word so the profanity filter says no, or do all chocobo need an unique name?

    I'd say it's the profanity filter, chocobos don't need unique names. Mine is called Choco and I've seen a dozen others with the same name.

    Might be the profanity filter. This game does weird things with it. Innocuous words and sentences get caught in it simply because a filtered word might appear in it. Try turning on the chat filter and typing in chat: “The grocery store isn’t open is it?” and see which letters the game censors. My guess is “grape” is being censored for the same reason. Maybe you can compromise by choosing an equivalent for “grape” in a different language?

    Not just this game, though I do agree this game does it just like most of the rest of the internet.

    Interesting stuff, and something to always keep in mind when you're creating a name that has to go through a filter that catches 'banned' words.
