    [Suggestion] /lockon movement change

The movement in this game is fairly generous with the option it offers to me, however I believe something could be done with the underutilised /lockon feature.

As an example of what the camera view looks like, citing the recent JP guide on how to dodge AOEs (all rights to the FINAL FANTASY XIV and Square Enix):
    https://youtu.be/zJVPDGIUKrY?t=7

That is the Lock-On mode. It essentially lets you do perfect circular movement while keeping the focus on the boss. However, it does come with a problem:

If you use a backwards input (default: S-Key, left stick down tilt) it makes you backpedal, a feature rarely useful and usually quite annoying if not handicapping. This happens regardless of camera mode (Standard, Legacy).

What a good version of lock-on should look like is the one from Kingdom Hearts I, letting you move omni-directional at full speed. Here an example from Regular Pat's video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLV6n0GNmnE

Essentially, what I am asking for is for the movement with lock-on to replicate the Legacy camera setting, where using S-key / L-Stick down tilt lets you run at full speed.

This would allow long-term use of the camera mode without having to remove the lock and re-apply it to dodge for example a circular AOE centered around the boss.

I personally hate the lock on. It screws with my camera angle.

I can count the number of times I've used lock on with one paw.

Since the change to auto attacks that makes you able to auto attack in any direction as long as you're not bound, why wouldn't you just take a straight line path to wherever you're going? The need to maintain facing on the boss is long gone.

Exactly. That's part of the reason the suggestion came to be.The other parts mainly that I love the feature but it is unpolished and almost forgotten.

Well I suppose, glad we have different options to choose from.

For me I used it on many occasions and I love it, but physical limitations as described made it hard for me to enjoy full time.

I'm reviving the thread after some additional findings that are reasons why - despite my best attempts to use it - it has glaring issues for a mechanic that could be really fine to use:

1.) Without jumping, you cannot enter a bosses' hitbox. It will keep you stuck on the ring without letting you enter the middle.
2.) When trying to move sideways while inside the hitbox it will try to move you out of the hitbox first.
3.) You cannot look behind you at all. You can zoom out a fair bit, but you cannot turn the camera and let it pan back into the original position to check behind you.

The problem with this is that there is a lot of donut-style AOEs where the safespot IS within the empty space of the target circle, for example "Doomvoid Slicer" from E2S' "Voidwalker".

I am really hoping for a change to the lockon mechanic to allow for more free movement of the character and less rigidness regarding camera control. I know it is super low on the list if at all on the list, but I really love this mechanic and wish it would be better.

But like. Why do you need to be locked on in the first place? That list of issues disappears if you just...don't lock on. I can see people using lockon from a distance to run a straight line to the target initially, but once you're in range why would you need to lock on? Forward and back while in melee range will have the same basic effect whether your camera is pointed directly at a boss or off to the side, and autoattacks/blocks/parries do not require you to maintain facing unless you are Bound, so what do you gain from being locked on at melee range?
