    Hey if I'm not mistaken I think there is a direct remnant of 1.0 that is out of bounds, it was some weird house somewhere in a forest some guy found. That is all I remember when I was watching youtube videos of out of bounds secrets since I was curious what lay beyond the borders

    How do things look THIS much worse all these years later? Everything is so washed out and faded. Textures have so much less detail. The areas seem so much less open and more linear even by other theme park MMO standards. I don't know if 1.0 was on console as well but my immediate suspicion is to wonder of the downgrade was so this game could run on the PS3.
    I also want to say during one of the live letters last year, during the gfx update announcement, Yoshi did stay they removed alot of shaders from the game (2.0 and onwards) and will slowly be readding some back to the game over time. not sure on the time frame.

    A word of warning: 1.0 looks great in screenshots, but the instant you start exploring it all falls apart. 2.0 and onwards have so much more going on with the terrain it's not even fair to compare the two games.

    I look forward to seeing what the graphics enhancements will bring, but I don't think looking back to 1.0 is where to look.

    I'm grateful that the game came to PS3, as it was the only way for me to play for almost two years. I'm just sad that we're still paying the technical debt it left us with.

    Coerthas was pretty, but all of it looked the same no matter where you were. I just enjoy looking at places at how they used to be and how they are now. Like an archeological site or something. I didn't make this thread as a "War of the Games" but just to have some fun looking at pictures.

    Totally understandable why they did that, but at the time during 1.0, i had a computer that was able to run it, and it was awesome despite the server to client side lag. I really enjoy the cities states from 1.0, them being open like they were as one zone was super cool especially in limsa. I remember hanging out on the deck next to the steps that ran from lower to upper watching people go up and down them xD

    Thanks for sharing your photos its always nice to have a bit of trip back to 1.0 from time to time.

    I still have trauma remembering the minute-long walk from the Limsa Aetheryte to La Noscea. That bridge went on forever.

    I've been watching a ton of speakers network's FF14 1.0 areas/concepts and I do honestly wish a few things would come back....


    - Larger areas
    - Settlement Defense, allowing for DoH/DoL & DoW/DoM to gain exp in an additional fate type
    - Travel Companion(s), allowing for an additional overworld NPC in addition to your Chocobo.
    - 'Open World Dungeons', which run FATEs, spawn special enemies, random objectives constantly for additional leveling/gameplay options
    - Aetherial Gates, allowing for quick transport around the map to specific hotspots, similar to Aethernet, but for overworld maps.

    Additional ask, bring Battlecraft leves back... It gives you something to do on DPS when waiting for Dungeons outside of hunts only.

    I like the idea of passive, building hate that happens in some areas - reminiscent of FFXI with tonberry and apkallu hate. I kinda miss that from 1.0, wish they'd kept it but I also understand why it was taken out.
