Need to remember these guides are being released in multiple languages. They're going to develop them in a style that resonations with their JP audience (which may also resonate with international players who enjoy anime). It's the dialogue localization that differs.
I have to admit that the dialog doesn't click with me as an older person but I don't know what age audience they're trying to target or if that's representative of the majority denographic for new players. On the other hand, it also doesn't really bug me since I don't expect them to be designing promotional material for those close to my age.
Or it could be they're assuming older players have prior MMO experience and are unlikely to watch the guide, that only younger players would. After all, it's not promotional material intended to generate direct sales. It's promotional material directed at those who have already installed the game and want to start playing.
What would be more useful to SE than feedback from us jaded game veterans is feedback from those new to the game or who are considering getting it. That would help them determine if they're hitting the mark for the intended audience.
Each version displays the rating system relevant to the region (ESRB for US, PEGI for UK). Just about everything that SE releases in multiple languages will end up with both US and UK versions as a result.

I didn't mind the cartoony style. There is some pretty cutesy stuff in this game already.
What got me was the voice they chose for the Viera. Why not use the Viera/Skyrim accent that we have in the game? Instead we got Jessica from HR.
Maybe they thought that would be too off-putting for new people. IDK. But it doesn't really reflect the tone of the game.
IIRC, they released a completely different, more straight-to-the-point and actually more in-depth series of guide videos specifically for Japan that doesn't use this animation style at all.
....So....
(sorry if bad english)
The guides is for people that dont know anything about MMO or just dont know anything about video game in general that are interested with the game.
Well you can say that the community can do a "better" job at doing it like from a youtuber, Mr.Happy or Zepla. But i'm pretty sure people will watch the "Official" one instead from a youtuber, like how in the old days when people read "Official" guide book. Also most "How to start playing FF14" videos from the community are old, like a year or 2 or even older, which is sometimes not accurate with current time or sometimes in the future.
I do wish they also give us more like an in-depth video guide about the game, especially about the settings in the game (hotbar, hud, keybinds, controller/k&m, graphics settings, etc) and gameplay (AoE, global cooldown, off global cooldown, combo, buff/debuff, etc). Like there's a video about it but japan only
As for aesthetic part, i don't think you should worry about that, and it has nothing to do with the 6.1 yshtola scene. Since new people have to do ARR msq when there are a lot of mature element (idk if i say that right) in it, like killing, kidnaping, slavery, r**e, and more (well most of these are from side stuff like sidequest, non voiced cutscene, or npc text). Hell, even recently in EW when *SPOILERS* then *SPOILERS* and *SPOILERS, which is pretty *SPOILERS* up moment

If they keep up the pace then episode #7 should be the Hot Springs Episode when Kaz gets to Bronze Lake for the first time and Mayra teaches him about glamour and RP!
I like them, and my initial reaction to them was something created for people that have never played a MMORPG or even a video game; like- at all.
So if people feel like they are being babied, it's probably because it's being viewed through the lens of a avid gamer/mmorpg player.

I’m not sure if people who have never played a video game before should be the audience this game targets with its tutorials videos. Instead they have claimed to want more people who like single player titles to try out FFXIV. As one of those people, if you showed me a video like these ones I wouldn’t have a very good view of the game and likely choose another title over it. Please respect this audience more.
I'll be honest, and i just said this to one of my FC members a couple minutes ago; i would have loved these videos 10 years ago, because this... game still to this day does not do a great job at explaining some things.I’m not sure if people who have never played a video game before should be the audience this game targets with its tutorials videos. Either way, these are light years better then that good awful ARR TV commercial. XD
