The scholar has to be an NPC since they use it outside of combat on a person that might not be in their party. Either that or Urianger is holding back hard on the WoL.
Healers:" uses restorative arts to mend wounded companions". No mention of DPS? On an official guide? That's priceless.
They may end up more successful than you think.
People of all ages watch animated movies even if they appear to be designed to appeal to small children. It's fun entertainment even if you're not a kid or don't have them.
Older adults are going to understand that the starter guide art style is intended for "audiences of all ages" and that it's not targeted specifically at them. They'll shrug it off. It's especially going to appeal to adults who are looking for something they can play with their children or grandchildren (especially if they live apart and can only do things together online).
The ones most likely to end up put off by it would be young adults, but they aren't a strong MMORPG demographic anymore. They're usually more interested in mobile games or competitive games.
Then look at it this way - the starter guide may drive away the potential new ERPers who would think it's gross to be ERPing in a kiddie game..
If you truly, genuinely believe this...This has always been the problem. SE doesn't treat us like children because we are stupid. They WANT their main payers to have the mind of a child and thus design their content for said children. Children who don't complain when the content slop they're fed isn't real food. You can already see this with Endwalker. Endwalker is lazily made slop, yet the 'majoritah' eats it up like good little piggies. These 'guide' videos are only a part of their training.
Why are you even here playing this game?
I think the attention to introduce someone who doesnt know how mmo works to ff14 was good will. But the video remind me of 5 year old kids show with cringe. I will not recommend those videos for newcomers if I want to introducing someone on ff14. SE, put more work on it please.
If this series is too childish in appearance, does anyone care to share a sample of what an intro / promo "should" look like to the demographic?
Done, lol.
This feels more like a "for all ages" type of video than something that makes me wonder why this scholar is talking down to me. If anything the fairy should be giving the pointers. :^)
The anime “Choose Your Life” commercial along with the other Korean anime as they made years ago. Adults still watch and can find anime palatable, but the art style in these tutorial videos just misses the mark by too much.
Yeah, I feel like I'm talking Japanese...![]()
