What makes a duty relevant? The answer to that is different for everyone.

A mount? There is a morbol mount for clearing old raids with BLU, just like there is a mount from the latest savage raids.
An achievement? There is an achievement for clearing old raids with BLU, just like there is for clearing the latest savage raids.
Gear? BiS? You could unsync the duties to get a BiS for BLU, so that might not be motivation enough.

Personally, the morbol mount made them relevant for me and it does for many others but I've met a lot of people interested in the achievements as well.

Blue Mage has lots of abilities to rotate through. If you think Blue Mage's rotation is boring, then you will probably be bored with most of this game's rotations for the foreseeable future.
