Some people are simply more skilled than you, and are able to greed in a completely consistent and safe way because they know the content well. It should not be the place of someone who thinks maintaining uptime is "needlessly pushing damage" to ever make a decision about positioning for another player.
The skill level it takes to greed in comparison to what the healer is doing when they evaluate a rescue isn't even close. Don't even go there. Not only are they paying attention to what they are doing, they are also paying attention what the other seven players are doing. Your position on the battlefield isn't some god-given right. Stop pretending it is.

It's a different and not very comparable skillset but uhh if you think the "skill" required to rescue dwarfs the skill required to greed well and safely you pretty much just (further) outed yourself as someone probably doesn't know what they're talking about.

LMAO this is a cooked take. Why do you want to control other players actions so much? Like I said earlier in the thread, rescue does have it uses every now and then, but in no way does that give healers the right to just rescue willy nilly - ESPECIALLY if the dps already knows what they're doing. Let DPS have fun and greed if they want to. It's literally what they are there for.

DPS still has to pay attention to what other players are doing, especially in savage content and time their raid buffs. It's not like they are mindlessly pushing buttons and solely looking at the boss. You make it sound like healers have this ultra complex job where they constantly have to monitor everyone's hp and debuffs or they could die at any moment when really most times you are just popping an ogcd heal, some mitigations, then your 2111111112 rotation.

    This is actually hilarious.

But yeah, this kind of attitude is exactly why I dislike rescue in a nutshell. Every healer I've met who brags about using it frequently seems to be convinced they're some gigabrain genius, and that every other player around them is some kind of drooling idiot that needs to be saved from themselves.

If greeding is easy, why do you feel compelled to stop people from doing it? Did you know that greeding is largely based around how your GCD clock interacts with fight timings, and that rescuing someone out of one greed has cascading effects that can impact the viability of all future greeds, turning them into an actual risk or a compounding DPS loss?

As with most people that brag about using rescue, the hardest content they've probably ever touched is an expert roulette dungeon or a 24 man.

But there is also no reason to Rescue a person who is greeding unless that greed is going to get them killed. And even then, it’s not inherently necessary. Sometimes I will and other times I won’t. Honestly depends on if I have Thin Air stacks and/or Swift to subsequently raise them.

So many AOEs in content are inconsequential to stand in. Even as a healer I will not make much effort to dodge if the AOE won’t kill me. O10S is one of the main reasons they swapped from vulnerability stacks to damage down stacks: melee DPS would just eat Midgardsormr’s AOEs because 1 vuln stack wasn’t going to get them killed. 2 was a bit more spicy, but still livable. And that was in Savage, so the vuln stacks are even less threatening in content below that.

As a healer, it’s important to learn what actually will kill your teammates and what won’t. Just like it’s the job of the DPS to know when to greed responsibly. Any decent DPS knows what they can get away with in terms of getting hit just like a skilled healer knows what they can get away with in terms of minimal healing. It takes a lot more skill than you’re giving it credit for.

Rescue has its uses, but I rarely use it to pull someone away from greeding. I expect DPS to know what hits they can take and what hits they cannot. If they misjudge and die, that’s on them. And hopefully they can use the experience to further their knowledge and learn how to greed more responsibly.

Healers don't get a warning telling them you are actually good and not the 200th clown they had to rescue.

Actually if they've been observing and know the game well, it's very easy to get indicators on whether someone is a clown or not. Have they been popping buffs and debuffs in timely manners? Mitigation? Beein getting positionals? Or slidecasting? Prepositioning maybe? Do they have a dash in their toolkits? Things like that.

Imagine screeching at losing a GCD in normal content (if you're doing savage or ultimate I imagine you should have a chat with your static's healer about it). It can't be about the damage loss. It has to be about the ego, no? "How dare you move ME. How can you not recognize how good at the game I am just by looking?" Has some real Karen vibes.

Lord knows in normal content you have players who don't even know what a group buff is so raising your bloodpressure over 1 GCD is moot.

It's also a real Karen vibe to assume everyone else is incompetent except for you

Alternatively "I should be able to decide where the DPS are gonna be because... Because!!" Has huge Karen vibes too. It's not about the ego, it's about fun, messing in such an intrusive way with a stranger's experience is not fun for the stranger, especially when they know what they're doing. Games are supposed to be fun and rescue is easily the one action that has the biggest impact on someone else's fun. Rescue is very bad game design and if healers want utility, something that removes consent from another player should absolutely not be it.
