For real. I always get a kick out of being rescued. Either I'm distracted and am about to get slapped with something, or I get a free ride across the room. It's good for a laugh. I'm not going for world first ultimate here - a few seconds of lost uptime is not enough to break my fragile ego.

I think some people get really upset about any perceived loss of control.

Ultima in the last Ivalice raid, at the end of the maze: I always end up getting the proximity arrow marker that you have to drop in the void. The other day, a healer rescued me back to the boss once the explosion went off. My little heart soared.

I was so excited, and thanked the healer for being amazing. That healer STILL apologized to me pre-emptively, probably because they had so many fragile egos gripe at them for DARING to scoot them out of place.

So many times people rescue when I'm perfectly fine.
This is such a small inconvenience to you, at the loss of a really valuable skill. A lot of people who are rescued (and gripe about it) might THINK they're fine, while being totally unaware of an incoming mechanic.

I've seen rescue used for griefing maybe once. And it was probably an accident.

Like the time I rescued my partner into the chasm going to the frog boss in the Shadowbringers fae dungeon. I thought it would zip him to the other side. Whoops.
