PS5 Controller not working when connected via bluetooth

I normally use my ps5 controller to play on pc so I know it should work unless something changed in the last couple months since I last played. My controller is connected to my pc and will work for other things on my computer but the game just doesn't recognize any inputs. I tried reconnecting it, restarting the game, changing some settings in game but nothing seems to work. The controller is being recognized by the game as being connected but just wont work. If I plug it in it will work perfectly fine but it wont work at all when connected via Bluetooth anymore.

    Greetings adventurer,

I'm sorry to hear that this issue has been happening for you. I would like to ask if you are you currently playing via the FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam version, or the Windows standalone version? If possible, are you able to test if this is a recurring issue with any other controllers? Additionally, it may help to reinstall and update any drivers (for the controller or Bluetooth adapter) that you may have.

We hope we can be of assistance with this issue. Thank you for posting in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Technical Support Forums!

Yeah PS4 controllers still seems to work with bluetooth but even after reinstalling and updating drivers PS5 controllers don't seem to work unless they are plugged in.

    Greetings Adventurer!

We would like to suggest that you disable all other device drivers. Be sure to leave the mouse, keyboard, and your controller as the only devices active. Additionally, if you have a specialized gaming keyboard or mouse, you may want to try using different devices to be sure there are no conflicts.

Same here, the Ps5 Controller Update is what seemed to be the culprit for me! I got notified over steam but i dont play FF14 there. Im really frustrated, i cant seem to get it working anymore… steam stuff seems fine, only FF14 seems to be affected. I highly regret the Update from Sony!

I am also having this issue, I used to be able to use my PS5 controller with bluetooth and then when it ran out of battery, I would just plug it in and it would work fine. If I disconnect from the wire (after charge), it instantly connected back to bluetooth. Now, FFXIV will detect that the wireless controller exists but inputs aren't received by the game. The controller is only detected through a wired connection. This is very frustrating since I would not like to use third party software or Steam because its not a direct PS5 connection. They will mask it as a XBOX 360 controller and reskin it to a ps5 controller which is something unideal.

UPDATE: I HAVE FOUND A FIX!

If you hide the controller from Steam, FFXIV will work normally as always with Bluetooth!
