Cheesing in PvP? Say it ain't so!



Its literally their LB and as a PLD you get to use 1 per CC match or 2 if overtime compared to dps or WHM who can get up to 3 or even 4 LB. However I do think cover shouldnt be in pvp. Or at least with its current form.


Considering how popular CC is I would not be shocked if they rework Frontline to a TF2 like game mode. Burst seems to be the name of the game so they will either scale up how long it takes to capture the nodes ala a bandaid fix or just shut it down similar to their DOtA/LoL clone and rework it.

it's not an absolutely invincible strat since there are technically ways to interrupt it but that requires ppl going on specific jobs just to counter the 'pld cheese strat' which is counter to the flavor of "all jobs are viable in FL modes"
I'm hoping they rework/rethink Cover just for FL AND Rival Wings tbh

yah what's the point of the robots if PLD can just cover + Guard a DPS that can then safely burn down Brutes and Chasers

All it would take to make Cover completely fine in Frontlines would be to change it from "Take all damage intended for the targeted party member" to "Take 99% of all damage intended for the targeted party member", this would mean the covered target still takes damage, even if miniscule, and it would interrupt ovoo capping.We've know about it for awhile

The other option would be to make it still transfer all damage to the paladin, but not any crowd control effects.
Those are two very different things. You can't even call what happens in Ultimates an exploit. It's blatant cheating. What's happening in pvp is less consequential and there are ways to respond to it.
I'm pretty sure cover is intended by design since PLD doesn't offer much offensive utility but excels heavily on defensive. I haven't found much of an issue against 2 PLD with cover in FL because they aren't CC immune even with cover. All you have to is apply a CC and either burst them down, CC and break their tether, or CC to disrupt their capture by staggering them until their cover duration is up.
Notable uses to disrupt them is using WAR's blota, MCH's Scattergun, BLM bind/freeze, AST bind, RPR LB Hysteria, DRK Salted Earth / Salt and Darkness, RDM Resolution, SMN push, DNC LB, etc. So yeah, lots of jobs have ways to respond to it.
Even BRD's Silence and Nin's stun is very useful at stopping the PLD from moving before they can guard, thereby rendering them open to quick burst. It's more about timing and awareness to not let such a big opportunity to go to waste before they can fully setup the strategy. It's also equally important to punish them after to increase BH as quickly as possible to shut them down when more nodes spawn.
