Make All Cut Scenes Skippable

Newer player here, just going into my 3rd month. Great game, enjoy the cutscenes (the first time) but why are they necessary on future playthroughs? I have now begun to skip dailies that require doing the duties with these long drawn out scenes that you cannot skip. Seems like it should be a simple fix. I wish the community as a whole would boycott these duties until you stop wasting our time with the same forced scenes every day

You dont have to do those daily, the reward is ONLY there because of the cutscenes.

There is an option to deactivate seen cutscenes though, you might wanna turn that on if you havent^^

The reason they added the Main Scenario roulette with the long cutscenes is to allow newer players to play through those dungeons and enjoy the story. Before, new players would be watching the cutscenes while the rest of the group just skipped them and left the new players behind. I remember running those dungeons originally and I hated the experience because if I wanted to watch the cutscenes, I couldn't be involved in mose of the fights

The cutscenes are unskippable because people would skip them and basically force sprouts who are doing them for the first time to choose between watching the cutscenes for the big climax of the story or actually experience the content of the levels. And considering the whole point of the roulette system is to make sure that newer players will always be able to run outdated content, that choice would kind of defeat the whole point of it. And even worse, some players would harass others who chose not to skip.

And doing something like "make people vote if they want to skip or make it skip if everyone has already seen it" wouldn't work because people would then just dodge runs that aren't cutscene free (people used to dodge Castrum at a point where Praetorium gave better EXP per time spent, so they'd almost certainly dodge here).

So yeah. Basically you are getting as much EXP as you do BECAUSE you are spending the time watching cutscenes. So you either do them knowing you'll be spending time (and it's not even that bad anymore) or you skip doing them because you don't want to spend the time. Those are really your two options. And nobody is forcing you to do every roulette every day. You can just not do it.

Edit: This is assuming you are talking about the three lvl 50 instances at the end of ARR. If you are talking about cutscenes otherwise, you can make it so it auto-skips any you've seen. Though be considerate to new players who haven't if you get paired with them. Everyone deserves to experience the story properly.

Ahh the CS of MSQ ... a painpoint for the community and SE alike.

First:
Everyone rushed for an "okay" reward and players agreed on a "you can either watch all cs's and miss the fights" or "you do all fights and watch cs elsewhere" rule of thumb, it worked okay but it was not great.

First "Fix"
All cs are now unskippable, community is annoyed ... the reward is NOT adjusted, wait time for new players 6h+ because none wants to roulette it. None was happy

second "Fix"
The exp reward is now so good that it is or at least is close to best exp/h you can get, system is plagued by those that find loopholes to still skip cs's (log in and out etc) or afk through entire runs.

third "Fix"
Duties are scaled back and made for 4 party members, Castrum resembles a normal dungeon, Ultima is basically 2 full lv 50 trials back to back and Prae is ... Prae.

Problems:
"but why cant we skip cs if noone is new" ... because ppl would kick players that are new to get this privilege of skipping

"okay but then if we queue with only those who did it before?" If all did that the roulette would once again not pop as players would create a pf for it or ask in fc to ensure no new player is in the run

The entire thing is on 3 layers of ductape, this is as good as it gets, the only realistic change is to make them fully solo at which point the roulette disappears so yea, this is as good as it gets.

Essentially, the "once a day" is a limit on rewards rather than a requirement, and there is no obligation to do the duties you don't want to do.

People do already boycott MSQ roulette if they don't think the rewards are worth it, but it remains in place for those who want it. The rewards are compensation for your time.

I love Prae. You get awarded exp and stuff for making supper, running the vacuum, writing the shopping list, playing another game, watching the latest live letter.
