How aesthetically representative of "NieR: Automata" is FFXIV's YoRHa content?

Obviously I know that the dwarves are the FFXIV end of the crossover (and honestly the worst part of it all IMO), but as someone who "discovered" NieR via said crossover, and who is eyeing the game's now prominent place on my Steam wishlist, I suppose I should ask how much of the visual and audible presentation of the NieR stuff in FFXIV is on the mark? Are the music bits ripped right from NieR? I did notice the presence of the "prelude" arpeggio in one of the boss fight themes, so I imagine there's some creative cross pollination going on, but as someone thinking of not waiting for the game to go on sale, I'm curious how "faithful" the crossover was to the source material!

I literally made an alt to wear the 2b gear (gunned her from 1 to 80 in a few days) after clearing the raid on my main last weekish, and I'm pretty obsessed right now!

All the music comes directly from Automata with the exception of the final bosses which are all remixes.
The aesthetic is mostly spot on but the raids do an incredibly poor job at showing what the story of NieR:Automata is actually about. Which is a good or a bad thing depending on the PoV.

I can't answer as I haven't played Nier. But on my end I see, "More of 2B? Where do I sign?"

It's funny, I'm not above cloning a favorite other-game character in FFXIV, as I've done it before, but not knowing anything about 2B beyond what we get in FFXIV, I instead opted to make a little "android battlemaiden" crossover of my own. Since the 2B attire is dyeable, I made a "KOS-MOS," and now she's all in blue, black and grey/white 2B with ironworks weapons! It's a complete aesthetic for multiple jobs and I love her so much! She's the only thing keeping me from no-lifing "NeiR: Automata" right now!

Oh I've cosplayed some of my favorite non FFXIV characters. Zero suit Samus Aran, Cammy from Street Fighter, Zelda dressed as Link. It can be fun looking for the right glamours to pull it off.

As for Nier. It's not all 2B I'm intrigued by. The other 10% or so of interest is in the music and story as well. If it wasn't for Yohra collab, I probably wouldn't even know who 2B is. There's just always something going on in XIV that keeps me from getting into it. And now island sanctuary is coming soon. If there's a will there's a way though, right?

Haven't played it. But her wiki page refers to 2B as a viable alias. Also WAY easier to say

Firstly, I'd just like to say that in my opinion everyone should play through NieR: Automata at least once if they can as its an absolute masterpiece (and not just route A). I can't recommend it enough.

But to answer your question - the Nier raids are aesthetically and visually very representitive of NieR:A as most of the music is straight from Automata, save for the boss fight remixes, as someone else already pointed out. 2B's outfit is absolutely identical and I believe every piece of gear that you get from the raids is either taken from the game itself directly or from something related to Automata that isn't the game itself (but is still official Automata material). The Pods and Stubby minions are from the game as well.

Story-wise however - not in the slightest. The raids have locations that are visually similar/the same to places from Automata but the story is not in any way related to it. I won't go into Automata's story, I'd just say go play it and find out yourself instead. It's worth it.

I figured that. Several players voiced a bit of disappointment with YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, and some of that seemed to have stemmed from the 24-man raid having very little to do with the actual story of NiER: Automata. Some homages to the characters, enemies, music, and scenery, but nothing to add to the original story. I got the impression those players really loved NieR, and were wanting more of it. I totally get it if it really was that amazing of a game.

For those of us not in the know, we got a really fun raid series (Puppet's Bunker still remains my favorite 24-man), awesome glamours, 2B's backside, introduced to some new characters, and got a small taste of NieR: Automata that has undoubtedly sent many to go experience it. I know that if I really enjoyed my experience with a game and story, anything that would get others to experience it also would be heavily supported by me.

Story-wise, there's almost no actual connection to Nier Automata outside of some character names and some of the mobs in the Copied Factory, most notably Engels.

Aesthetically, it does okay, considering Nier has a very different combat style to try to map into XIV's system.

I do recommend trying it for yourself, just don't expect much of the crossover to actually matter. (Also, try to go in as spoiler-free as possible, the game throws some big curveballs at you.)
