I always worry when SE provides a free outfit through a seasonal event you guys won't be able to find something to complain about. It looks like you guys got it covered though. Great job!I know this has been a heavy focus of discussion in another thread already, but between it not being the actual target of the OP and getting lost amid other discussions in the thread, I wanted to put it front and centre.
The new Moonfire outfits are cool, but the fact that they are provided as a single inventory item while presenting drastically different legwear for male and female characters is frustrating.
All the other pieces make sense to be provided as a single inventory item. The designs are the same or similar with necessary variation for gender.
The legwear, however, is two extremely different designs according to gender, with no chance (now or in future) to ever choose which of the two options you want your character to wear. Even if they were separate and still gender-locked, there would be the possibility to unlock them in future, but here there is no possibility of that happening.
It doesn't seem to line up with other aspects of the game. The newest glamours from both the game (Varsity set) and online store (Street set) have provided nominally gendered designs as separate unisex items. Previous seasonal gendered gear like the Valentione dress and waistcoat were separate items. A lot of work has been put into allowing everyone to equip previously genderlocked glamour gear, and yet for some reason here we are right back to forcing a single style choice by gender.
I hope SE can reconsider this decision and look at introducing a separate item for the female briefs. I realise it couldn't be done for the event itself at this late stage, but perhaps it can be added in later and made available through the Calamity Salvager.
Here's a thing for the guys - The Rathalos Armor is not genderlocked anymore (if you folks didn't knew that until now), and the female "pants" can be worn for males as speedos if you are willing to grind a bit for the dyeable one.
Much prefer the shorts, not to mention the bikini bottoms clip into your waistline at times.
Ah, the exquisite agony of being teased by posts with no pics.
I think the top looks good on a Viera fem with Peacelover's Pantaloon; the pic is up in the "Show your Viera" thread. https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...57#post6044757
Perhaps we need a dedicated "Show me: Moonfire 2022 Top Goes Well With ..." thread.
Paying six months at a time.
The first month is pricey (but not much more than typical AAA games),
but after that that second through fifth month are all free.
That said, my spouse and I have thousands of dollars invested in each of our gaming rigs.
We dumped another $2500 into them in upgrades last month. Just for gaming.
That's 100 months of subscription fees for each of us, just for last month's upgrades.
So averaged over time, the subscription fees for FFXIV are basically nothing compared to the amortized cost of the HW we use to run it. YMMV.
Yeah I completely agree with this, they should also turn the genderlock back ON for the items they've already removed it from. Hell, I think they should remove the capability of putting girls in armour that covers more than their nipples and vagina. Now that's the game we all aspire to play.
Why even cover nipple and vagina, just let us play naked.Yeah I completely agree with this, they should also turn the genderlock back ON for the items they've already removed it from.
