I understand your frustration only in the sense that the item isn't two separate equippable pieces. I have zero issues with the pants being only for males and the bikini bottoms for females.

Even if they were two separate items, I have no doubt that they would still be gender locked. So I am not sure if that actually fixes anything for you.

There is no such thing. You cannot say that a subjective determination is objectively anything. You can only use the term 'objectively' when you're talking finite things that can be proven or demonstrated. You cannot prove or demonstrate that a piece of clothing is objectively ugly. Nothing in our universe is objectively ugly.

That's not what hyperbolic means, either. Sorry. Hyperbolic is when you over-exaggerate something. Saying "pretty much" before an incorrect term doesn't equal being hyperbolic.

I am grossly exaggerating how ugly these shorts are. It is being hyperbolic.. Why are we even debating this? Either way, if I am going to be called out, please include the full quote.

I think the point folks are making is that if they were two separate items, even if they were gender-locked right now, you could possibly unlock them at some future point.

But in having them be the same item that just appears differently based on who equips it, you more or less ensure you can't ever do that, at least not easily; since everyone has the same item, either you'd need to turn all the ones women had into the shorts (and then let them get the bikini bottom separately) or all the ones guys had into the bikini bottoms (and then let them go get the shorts separately if they wanted those).

(Now, you can always introduce two new separate items down the road which share the model but have slightly different colors or different patterns, and I suspect if they ever give us unlocked versions, that's what they'll do.)

I think we could use more feminine swimsuits if anything!

For all that my main character's aesthetic tends to get described as "tomboyish", "practical", or -- for more elegant stuff -- "dapper", and swimsuits are not a usual part of it... I'd actually be on board for this. Most of the swimsuits I can think of in-game are variations on like... two different models, with different colors or patterns. Some other options -- a one-piece suit, something with a swim-top more like the miqo'te hempen chamise, whatever... -- would make for a bit of welcome variety.

I agree so much! As soon as I've seen the set I thought: ugh, we get yet a millionth pair of panties and males get some super cool pants. Why can't we have the male version?
Honestly, I don't get why they still insist on this separation. Especially since "panties for females, trousers for males" has been a thing in so many sets throughout the game and I'm so tired of it.

I don't even know if I'll bother gettign this set aside for main, I have many chars but none is male and I can't see myself wearing a single piece of the female set tbh.

Yes please. Even if they were just separate and then later was given a gender unlock would be better than this. I'm so tired of them doing the same item but has a different look based on gender or race. I know that maybe it's the fact that I play a female whm but I'm fairly done with getting skimpy barely covers anything garments. Give me some two pieces or shapes that are like the ones Padudu posted.

Gotcha. But I believe you know where I will go next with this. And that's the time required to complete those tasks. They took two shortcuts here. One was making the items convert based on the sex of the character, and locking those designs to that sex. Three if you include the icons. There are other items that suffer the single icon issue as well, which again is a testament to the time this team does not have.

I get what you're saying and if the decision was made to make these items all inclusive I wouldn't gripe about it.

If nothing else, the bracelets (they're not part of the top) seem useful as a thing for other sorts of glamour.
