Repeatedly dealing with Fatal DirectX Error 11000002

Hey all!

I've tried everything I can think of but I'm still plagued by this error. Sometimes I can play for 2 hours; other times the error will pop 2 seconds after loading in. Fresh install of Windows 11. Most up-to-date drivers from the manufacturer website. Ran the game with nothing else installed(Installed all of the programs after it was clear that none of them were causing the error). Downclocked my GPU. Turned down all of the in-game settings. Capped FPS to 60, 120, 240, as well as uncapped. NOTHING has worked. I tried running the game in DX9 but that was a mess.

I'm getting to the point where I might just stop playing altogether. I love the game, I really do, but this is ridiculous. No other game has ever given me this massive of a headache. I'm hoping someone here can help me.

You can try disabling any applications that might start up with your PC by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Once there, disable everything, and restart the PC. It might also help to run the game in borderless-windowed mode from the in-game settings, and to turn off fullscreen optimizations. You can find this by locating the executable file for the game (usually in the install folder) and right-click it to select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disabled Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.

After the clean install, I ran it on its own for a little before installing anything else and I still got the error. It was at that point that I threw my hands up and reinstalled all of my typical programs. They don't seem to have affected the frequency at which it happens- it seems to happen at random. I've always run my games in borderless windowed as well, so that isn't it. I'll try the compatibility mode for disabling fullscreen optimizations and report back.

Still getting the error at random after disabling fullscreen optimizations. I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix it, being that I've tried everything, short of building an entirely new system or simply not playing anymore... Which is my next course of action. I'm not about to continue playing and have myself and others dealing with the frustration of these crashes- Especially since I main a healer.

Something that fixed my crashes on a system I was renovating was running BurnInTest from Passmark.
Using it, I discovered that the CPU was overheating due to a problem with the cooling system.
Fixed the cooling system and the system is now stable.

Just shotgunning, but another thing to try is disabling the Efficiency cores in the CPU.
One less thing to cause problems, and you don't probably need them.

And I'm assuming that with a rig like that you're running at least a kilowatt PSU.

I'll try disabling the efficiency cores and see how that goes. Cooling is definitely not a problem, and yea I'm running an AX1600i. Thanks for the suggestion! Fingers crossed!

Same issues here, I am at my wit's end. AMD 3700X and Nvidia 1080Ti, so I doubt it is hardware-related.
I do remember that these issues started after updating drivers (audio, chipset and GPU).
I'm going to try using nvidia's studio drivers instead of geforce drivers (using DDU to remove all driver files in between).
If that doesn't work, I'll revert to a driver from a few months ago.

I am also at a loss. I was playing on the trial for 8 months. Just purchased the complete collection two weeks ago. Last week, I started noticing lag which I never encountered before. It progressively got so bad, I couldn't log in. I spent a few days doing research and literally tried everything. I unistalled the game to start over, and am attempting to reinstall it.
Now, the downloader will start downloading around 40 - 50 per second. When I get a quarter through the download, it drops to 2-5 per second until it say unknown and freezes. Now, the patcher will take 5-10 minutes to even open. I turned off virus protection and firewall, updated all my drivers, lowered ping, lowered clock speed. ESO and LOTRO work perfect still on my PC (Alienware) with no issues. I literally am at a loss and don't know what to do.
Lastly, I only received a directx crash once the day before I could no longer get on.

Used to have this issue all the time with my AMD RX6700. Might i suggest going into your nvidia or amd control panel and create a game profile for XIV, setting the FPS limit to 60. Did that and not had any issues at all

I have been playing this game since January 25th this year and never had any issues, but since August 1st this issue appeared for me. It seems a lot of other people are dealing with it too.

I got a new GPU in March, but everything worked perfectly fine since then too. I have not made any changes to my PC since then. The crashes appeared out of nowhere.

I am at a loss. Here is everything I tried:
* Rebooted PC many times
* All windows updates have been done
* Changed game to windowed mode and back to fullscreen
* Tried playing on borderless fullscreen
* Restored game data through launcher
* Complete re-installation of FFXIV (launcher and game files redownloaded)
* installed the game on a different drive
* Clean install of newest GPU drivers
* Used the Display Driver Uninstaller tool to completely remove the GPU drivers and installed the newest ones.
* Made a new windows admin account and tried playing from there
* Ran SFC /scannow and DISM on windows (to fix issues with windows itself)

None of these actions have resolved the issue.
