It's not really being defended. We're just encouraging people to take initiative instead of giving up. It would've been nice to see an update or hotfix, but it apparently wasn't a big enough issue from their perspective.

I was in a run yesterday and we were up against around 10 PLD on an opposing team. My team just kept on fighting these people without trying to match the cheese and we eventually got the win. It's clearly not an unbeatable strat.

Reworking Frontline was on the timeline for after Rival Wings was it not? Honestly the easiest fix for this IMHO is to remove Onsal Hakair and Seal Rock for now That way square doesn't have to think about how to balance pvp for Crystalline Conflict and also older content that doesn't work with the new PVP design philosophy.

Until SE takes some sort of formal action I guess report people you see doing it for Nuisance Behavior. The people who are doing this in Frontline matches know that this is obstructing normal gameplay.

Just make it so you cannot capture a point while under the effects of Cover.

After speaking with someone who was doing this it seems people are pointing to a reddit article in which a GM states "the ability is working as intended". Though the reddit article doesn't show the question that was asked of the GM, nor does the answer from the GM indicated that the way that Guardian interacts with Ovoos is working as intended.

I opened a ticked and the response I got was not one of "working as intended" but that they would be investigating further.

In other words, don't use the random reddit post as justification for using this.

If SE doesn't think that the issue is "bad enough" to warrant a response, the only way to get eyes on it is to report for nuisance behavior when you see it happening IMHO. If there's enough reporting around it, then maybe someone at SE will take notice.

It's sad. You can literally fight back against this, but snitching continues to come up as the response. Maybe PvP isn't for you.

It's a known issue, will probably be fixed. There's like two other threads recently on this. One was bumped just yesterday.

Like most "known issues" it will get fixed in six months to a year, if at all.

I personally dont care much (i finally have all the achis and mounts, i play for fun and tomes now), but i dont understand this philosophy nowadays of "nobody can admit they are wrong".
What i mean Is, Se (i think) acknoledged this Is a bug and a lot of ppl are taking advantage of It. This Is Se's fault so ppl are not getting blamed BUT, according to TOS, this should be punished.
Since a lot of ppl are pissed about this (and i am too a Little cause It forces me to play Jobs i dont wanna play in pvp, hence read: imbalances issues) and they are right cause ppl are exploiting a "not intended" sinergy between their toolkit and the map, se should do this:
1) admit publicly that this Is not intended to work like this (this point i dunno if It already fullfilled or Literally the other way around)
2) treath to Punish whoever take advantage of It
3) start to put in jail whoever does It. After 2 visits in jail you get a suspension.
Be sure: After One visit in jail ppl Will stop altogether to do this. I have be trown in jail for saying "grow a brain" in Frontline After "i" was attacked First for trying to lead a match; not gonna touch the chat anymore. This ppl are not getting punished (like ppl that where abusing whm infinite afflatus bug) ONLY cause Se cant admit that they are having problems. I dont see why they cant go out and Say: "we are having issues (or not have time for now) to address X thing, but dont abuse It or you Will be punished"
I Remember, at the time of FF11 that i read all the TOS there and there was a specific section about bugs and exploit that Said something like this: "if ppl find a bug or an exploit (like Monster giving infinite exp) and instead of reporting It they abuse It they Will severely punished".
I dont get why they cant do smt like this here in ff14.
I mean, tbh i know why they do this, they Just play dumb cause they dont wanna piss no One: they dont wanna piss off cheaters, they dont wanna piss off wintraders, they dont wanna piss off rmters, etc.

Punishment seems somewhat stupid. I mean for what? Using the ability? If not then what is your proof? I could get into a heated battle and use cover on someone to protect them but oh no! it's Onsal and then they capture! Now I get BANNED. At this point they could remove the ability alltogether.

Of course the simple solution would be to make people under cover unable to capture points or interact with them and if someone now says that this is the same code as the Elixir than i would suggest SE to have code in place to distinguish between an ability of a player and an object on the floor. That can not be that hard. The flipside would be that this would probably make capture nodes on other FL maps impossible. Which in my book is a win.
