Notable classes where I've had fun with their gimmicks

    CC:
Bard - Lots of burst damage potential and can lockdown kill targets with silence on a relatively short cooldown. Whatever you do, don't play them in Frontlines though.

White Mage - Getting off a clutch polymorph is very satisfying.

    Frontlines:
Samurai - Multikills with Chiten + LB. Need I say more?

Paladin - Super durable and can stall out large clumps for enemies for a minute if you space your abilities correctly. Also the big ole cheese with covering is fun.

My more exciting PvP moments (in both Frontlines and CC) have come from playing DNC.

The things I can do with their toolkit, like diving into a party member who is about to die, doing a last-second partner swap and saving them with a stacked Curing Waltz - peak satisfaction, I tell you. It's also fun keeping an eye out for all the different ways I can use Honing Dance - I can drop a nasty amount of cleave damage (when I know it's safe), put up barriers for my party to protect them from SAM's LB, or, if I'm feeling particularly spiteful, preposition myself in the direction I know my target is going to run and force them to choose between running back towards my team or bleeding to death with Honing Ovation; it's hilarious when everything aligns in just the right way to make that possible. And don't get me started on En Avant--what an amazing move. I love that it's built into DNC's rotation, allowing me to be slippery while pumping out plenty of damage. It's almost disgusting what I can get away with using a 4 charge dash on a 10 sec CD.

DNC gives me so much room for skill expression and I've been having a blast trying to master this job.

That's the stuff I love to hear. I wish PVE had this level of richness to it, PVP skills are few but they are usually so impactful and intertwined. It's pretty awesome.

For supportive jobs PLD, AST, SGE and BRD have some fun ways to support your team, be it defensively, with buffs / debuffs or with crowd control.

If you like more damage focused jobs, DRG and MNK are solid melee jobs while MCH and RDM are fun ranged / caster picks.

Hard to say what you may like, you should try a few.
I might have to give DRK a re-try then. I've been enjoying my time with MNK, DRG, NIN, and SAM. Particularly MNK though, it feels like you're playing Shichika from Katanagatari if you'll allow me a weeb comparison. Relentless and with insane burst when you build up right.

Thank you all for participating and posting your thoughts btw, I deeply appreciate it.

Who am I to tell him otherwise? An ffxiv player on a public forum, that's who. And I wasn't "telling him otherwise," I was stating something I think is true, which ultimately may be true, but could be just taken as me voicing my opinion. And sure, I can see why you could interpret my response as something negative, but calling me out and lamenting the state of "this place" whatever that means, isn't exactly a positive response either and doesn't get the discussion back on track either, does it?

I'll extend to you an olive branch. What job do you find most fun to play and why?

Despite having no sort of cc of heal power scholar has become very amusing. They may as well be using the astrologian's cards, because they're holding them. Like it's amusing that they can easily manipulate the battlefield with buffs and debuffs within seconds. What other classes can consistently keep the attack power of your opponents lowered for majority of the fight?

I agree. It's so satisfying to hit a bunch of people with a Galva+Expe buffed Biolysis. They're probably the most chill job to play on as well.

DNC, it has to be DNC.

After dabbling into a bunch of the classes, DNC has the be the most smiles per minute class for me in CC.
    • The DNC LB (and Reaper LB for that matter) being able to catch guarded/ unguarded enemies into arena-created damage has a flavour of satisfaction that you couldn't get from a standard high damage LB.
    • Using a DNC LB following up a high damage output LB's (DRG, SMN, WHM, DRK, etc.) along with your teams damage, puts a serious damper on an enemy push due to serious TKO or actual KO's.
    • En Evant in general. IMO one of the highest utility skills given to a class. Enemy is running to elixir? I'm more inclined to give chase and stop it. I can even pot between dashes if I'm being pressured. Melee or Ranged giving constant pressure? A map like Volcanic Heart (Cloud 9 and Palaistra less so) gives me ample options to create space/ break LOS.
    • Honing Ovation followed into Fan Dance and Saber Dance. 2 GCDs and 1 oGCD creating a potential 30k burst gives enough raw potency to be a flexible finisher (not to mention its reliably ready every 20 seconds).
    • I also find Guard has great synergy with En Evant. Dropping guard into en evant to fall back saves more then I will ever admit to vs. just guard and sprint.

I find DNC to be a more high risk, high reward class. You have the abilities to jump in and out of the thick of the melee battles, so long as you know when you need to fall back. If you are not being focused most of the game, the AoE damage DNC puts out is truly ridiculous, magnanimous even. You also get Curing Waltz, and buffs for your dance partner. What's not to love?

hey sir have you tried playing a gunbreaker ? you can see what it actually means to get blown up in 0.5seconds as a tank.

Ninja in Frontline Is the best for me. Literally the only One able to kill a tank with less than 5 ppl attacking it. Monk Is strong and Sam Is a noob trap.. but noobs are a lot so..
