If someone just wants to hit Crystal and stop there because they want the frame/achievement or something, that's fine. They'll just stop playing and keep that rank for the season because of no decay. I highly doubt that's a significant portion of the ranked player base.

To your example, if someone got to Crystal on a lucky winstreak and they keep playing, sooner or later they will fall back down because of the de-ranking. That's the goal. Before, they could have gotten a lucky winstreak, got to Crystal and then lost 95% of their games and they were not going anywhere. Now they are.

On the reverse, someone who got unlucky and fell back down will grind to get back up. If they truly deserve to be there, they'll get there eventually.

Demotion is fantastic and yes, that might very well happen to me and that's okay.

I think people seem to think that Feast was a lot more "dead" than it really was. It was slow at times because no one wanted to play healer because of the insane pressure on you to perform. With the current no role restriction and the larger player base, if you gave better rewards for top 100, ranked CC would be just fine.

Luck is a much bigger thing right now, because there are Crystal players that are so hilariously bad that the games are determined not by who plays better, but by who has X person on their team. If X is gone, then you go back to a contest of skill, not luck.
