Those "wants" have already been voiced 1000x now when it comes to apartments and housing in general. For what..8ish years now?, if they cant understand what players want when it comes to housing by now, then its a lost cause .

Either they are not capable of understanding the specific requests for YEARS... or they simply don't care....

That's a false dichotomy.

They might be aware of what people have been asking, but they look at the way their current system is designed and they realize they would need to rework it from scratch. And that's just not going to happen. Best we've gotten were apartments.
They'd have to rework the wards in their entirety. They'd have to rework the code for plots, especially the outside which likely won't be available anymore. Likewise for items and furniture that would change the layout of the exterior.
No investor would be okay with that, and SE itself would likely tell the team to get bent. Plus, that's not even accounting for the manpower and work hours required to do that.

Yeah, plenty of people want a new housing system. The problem with a new system is working with or getting rid of the old one.

Bigger apartments would probably alleviate the situation a bit.

They should add a "townhouse" instance. $1M gil or so ... 2 storeys and a little outside space would be great.

Bigger apartment sizes and housing related side activities moved elsewhere in the game. If someone wants to solo build and airships/subs alone let them with a workshop accessible by your Grand Company in a new rank. If someone just wants to crossbred some plants I see no reason the Island Sanctuary can't have a garden plot to allow access to that. Apartments having bigger sizes would also be a great gil sink for the game if they are prices closer to actual housing, albeit at a slightly cheaper amount.

Allowing all FCs to access workshops, regardless of home ownership status, would be a massive improvement. It's not a big deal if the entrance were to be moved from a FC house to the GC halls.

Workshops are already dumbed down grindfests lmao. Reckon most of the workshop activity is one person grinding all the materials and then just putting out the boats every now and then. And I know because I'm the only person who interacts with the workshop in my FC.
