Call me old fashioned, but I remember the olden days when you bought a game outright, then when expansions were released for games, they tended to be a new game in itself. MMOs just had monthly subscription costs and that was it. Now companies are trying to squeeze every penny out of you that they can. Store cosmetics and mounts are a prime example of content that could be earnable in game, but they don't because they know they have simps like you that will buy anything and everything off the store on top of the subscription cost you pay and the extra retainers you pay for.
Hell, you even created this post suggesting a way for a multi-billion dollar corporation to get even more money from you. If that's not a prime example of idiocy, then I don't know what is.
SE isn't squeezing anyone. All that extra stuff is optional. When there's a market for certain things, they'd be foolish not to try and make some extra money to support the game. Relying on subs alone is how these games fade away.Call me old fashioned, but I remember the olden days when you bought a game outright, then when expansions were released for games, they tended to be a new game in itself. "Imagine asking a company to sell you a product that you want, that's so stupid !"Call me old fashioned, but I remember the olden days when you bought a game outright, then when expansions were released for games, they tended to be a new game in itself. I think you're a little too full of yourself sir/maam. Respectfully.
Support the game? You realise that FF14 is their money earner that is funding everything else.
Plenty of other MMOs survived quite fine on subs alone for many years. World Of warcraft, EVE online... The games that failed with subs are the ones that didn't retain a large enough audience after release. Two games that spring to mind were Lord Of the Rings Online and Star Wars The Old Republic that both did better going F2P since the games on release flopped and lost all the audience. Best way to get players back into the game was making it free to enter.
FF14 is the former which has such a huge audience despite it being subscription only that it's actually churning out money for SE. Without ff14, SE would be long dead. So this isn't even about supporting the game, it's just about making SE shareholders richer lol. I honestly can't believe the mentality in this thread that you are looking for and supporting more ways to make rich people richer. Your mentality only hurts the consumer at the end of the day as companies look for more and more ways to make extra money for those shareholder dividends.
SE is certainly not some indie company that is working their asses off to release and update their games with nothing but dust in their bank accounts. They didn't even invest in new servers when they could have early last year (when it was only a 6 month wait for servers and networking gear) when the player population was increasing which resulted in lost sales as they had to halt all sales of FF14 over one of the best periods for games sales (Christmas) on top of the massive queues to login.
They won't even invest in more servers to support more wards for housing, hence why we have a massive housing crisis in the game.
Nor will they increase investment into the game. Where's the Hrothgar females? We only recently got the males for viera. Where's all the wearable head slot items for Viera and Hrothgar? SE could literally hire a few extra artists to spend their time going back through all the gear and making it compatible with viera and Hrothgar, but they won't even do that.
And you guys think they deserve even more money? Absolute joke.
This post can't be real lmfao
BUUUTTT IT IS OPTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
All good : Diablo Immortal all things in the cash shop are optional - do you want the same concept in FF14 ?
No and thats the problem. Also "...but the customer wants it.." is not an argument because customers are not the smartest bunch especially in groups.
"But we need to support the GAME.." is funny and you did fall into the trap of big companys that make the customer their biggest defender. SE has financial success and FF14 is part of that. They earn with FF14 not the biggest numbers but a steady income that never stops, so its seems. They dont need you. Believe me or better look at the numbers.
Quick question at end here: How do you gain access to FF14 ? For me it is through payment or i cant play... weird AS IF WE ALREADY SUPPORT THEM.
When I saw that we were going from Broil III at 290 potency in ShB to Broil IV at 295 potency in EW, I was shaking with how excited I was. I couldn't believe they were so generous with a whole 5 potency. I'm going to probably scream in excitement when 7.0 comes out and Broil V hits 300 potency, playing SCH going to be WILD once it hits 300!!!
