What is the Paglth’an gear inspired by?

Like what real world culture(s?) is the gear inspired by? I know the fending/maiming set is obviously like, roman/gladiator type stuff (did they wear shorts in real life though?). But for the rest, I cannot find a single bit of info about them. Or are they not really based off of anything from real life in particular? Is it just supposed to be “I live in a hot climate” kind of clothing and that’s it?

The main thing they are based on is the Amalj'aa themselves, though I'm not sure if they looked at other references besides that.

I sorta guessed that the armor is supposed to be like “their clothing but made for us.” But I guess I also don’t know what the Amalj’aa are based off of either. Like I can tell for some of the tribes what they’re inspired by, but not all of them, and Amalj’aa fall into that category.

We can't really tell if they're specifically and deliberately based on anything, but I've always vibed them as maybe 'Fantasy North Africa', in generalities if not specifically based on anything.

Well that’s still more than I’ve been able to figure out, thanks for the suggestion. And ya, I totally get that a lot of stuff in fantasy is like vague “vibes” as you said, rather than anything very specific.

I had assumed it was based on Amalja clothing, if you look at the headgear for Healer/Caster they have the same sort of horn that goes from the forehead back.
