    A question about Haukke Manor Hard - Maybe a bug?

    Hi

    In this Moogle Tomestones event happening this year me and some friends decided to do Haukke Manor Hard to farm some tomes.

    The thing is:

    In a lot of times, at the last boss the boss mechanic seems to be buggy.

    I'll explain the mechanics of the last boss:
    - each ad appearing along the fight wont die. Instead, their hp will be reduced to 01% after we hit them enough;
    - the boss then, cast a spell to bring the ad close to her and then she absorbs the ads hp gaining a boost to a AoE that she casts pretty much right after absorbing the hp of the ad.
    - the more hp on the ad at the moment she cast the spell, the more damage the boss will make in her AoE.

    This goes pretty neat after 3 of the 4 ads. The problem is the last ad.

    Sometimes, as the last ad spawns, we don't have time to hit the ad before boss pull it and absorb it leading to a wipe as she casts the AoE with the boost of damage. in one occasion, after only 10 secs after the last ad spawn, the boss absorbed her hp... '-'

    We decided to use Limit Breaker on the last ad, but the ad's hp drops to something around 50% only and the last half we have to drop by hitting.

    My question is: is it intended to be like this? is this a bug on the last ad? Is there anything that we missed in the fight mechanics capable of explain why this happened so often yesterday?

    The boss enters certain phases at certain hp values, your problem is you are moving the fight faster then intended. Haukke Manor Hard has the only (maybe there 1 or 2 others bit if so they elude me at this moment) bosses you need to dps ... slow.

    Lets say the add pops at 40% and the final phase starts at 20% (random numbers) if the add is alive while the boss hits 20% she will instantly eat it to proceed to the next phase causing a wipe as the adds hp value is turned into damage.

    Tl:dr go slower, encounter did not age well.

    This fight has an odd DPS check where the boss will eat the adds if they aren't killed in time. But because everyone's gear ends up being higher than intended even with sync, you end up skipping phases. So you skip over adds lingering before getting absorbed and go straight to adds getting absorbed. The only solution is to hold back on DPS for the last fight until the add phase is over.

    Hmm, I understand!

    Thanks for the answers, guys!

    I hope this thread can be helpful for more people with the same questions in future.

    So, we have to get things a bit slowly on dps against the boss. Got it!

    This is starting to happen in the lighthouse, the first boss with the adds that get summoned every few % damage it takes?
    Those adds do an AOE that never misses, and gives a stack, and 3 stacks are instant death.
    If you do too much damage, you end up with too many adds, and 3 stacked aoes, your all dead.

    Ifrit does this as well. If you DPS him too hard he will skip the Nail and then the game assumes you did 0 damage to the nail so Ifrit gets a full boost to his party wipe ability.

    Simply an issue with old content not being updated to today's standards. DPS are a lot better at their job now compared to back when that content was released so mechanics don't resolve as well as they used to.

    You have to intentionally keep your DPS low at certain HP values on the boss to insure you have time to resolve the mechanic. If not, you drill their HP too fast and the the mechanic finishes as soon as it starts, leading to a "failed" mechanic in the game's eyes.
