Boss Voice Line - Which Sound Slider?

    Hello,

I am curious what sound slider effects the Boss Voice Lines that get yelled out when you fight them?

    For example, Spoilers coming up....

I just fought Zenos yae Galvus with Yugiri and whenever Zenos did a voice line, it was extremely loud. Everything else sound wise is fine, other than when bosses do their voice lines. What slider is that?

    Thank you.

    Are you forsure about that?

Because that is what I assumed but the boss voice lines were still wayyyyy louder than the cutscene voice acting. I tried lowering it and it had no effect.

If you are forsure I will try reinstalling the game then.

It affects the voice lines of my own character. Maybe they used a difference type of sound for the voice like sound effect or ambient.

I'd save you the hassle. Re-installing the game won't fix or change the behavior of a slider. That's... just not how installations work.

    Viable troubleshooting options:

    - Check / play with all the audio sliders.

    - Check your audio settings outside of the game. Try playing with settings like "volume normalization" (also called "loudness" by some manufacturers; my audio control panel calls it "loudness equalization"). Volume normalization will attempt to make all of your audio present itself at the same level, i.e., if there's a loud explosion or a booming voice, those things won't be much louder than the other sounds being produced. With volume normalization off, the dynamic range of the audio won't be limited. A loud voice heard after or during silence will be extremely loud. Along these lines, play with equalizer and "environment" settings (also called "virtualization," or "virtual surround"). Both of these can be set so that certain frequencies of sound - such as voices - are much louder than sounds around them. Some audio drivers even have a "karaoke" mode which can cut - or boost - voices. Make sure that's off.

I am not sure what other advice to offer. The only thing I can guarantee is that if you re-install the game, it's not going to change how sliders work.

    Good luck tho!

Another option to look at is the listening position. There's a slider in

    /systemconfig > Sound Settings

that lets you set the listening position closer to the camera or closer to the character. The farther to the Camera side, the louder sounds are as you zoom in or swing your camera near a source. The farther to the Character side, the louder sounds are as your character moves closer to the source. If you're hearing bosses obnoxiously loud you might benefit from adjusting this slider. I personally have it set all the way to the Camera side, but this can still cause loud spikes when I turn my camera to run away, but on the whole this setting works best for me.

Thanks everyone for the help. Luckily, when I was doing a solo duty there was a few "boss lines" and it was in fact the Voice Slider causing it. I had to lower it from 80 to about 20. I assume the last time I tried I didn't lower it enough.

This is a little weird cause all of the other voice lines during the talking cutscenes are perfect. I haven't tried the "Listening Position" slider. What I ended up doing was setting a macro button /voice 20 and just pressing the hotkey when I am in a duty.

    Thanks everyone for the help!

Listening position has a big impact but it's hard to prevent it from getting louder sometimes because either your camera or your character will be near them eventually. You can try to keep your camera distant though.
