That's why some dyes go for tens or hundreds of thousands of gil on the marketboard.

That said, I absolutely support the idea of being able to store dyes in the glamour chest, and being able to use those stored dyes when creating glamour plates.

I know pigments are only a part of the whole dye situation. It's basically split in 4. You have pigments, city vendors, tribe vendors and quick explore.

It's one thing to add storage to the dresser for more items. It's a whole other thing to have a slot for dye and have it interact with the plates. As nice as it would be, it's just not gonna happen. It's too much work for a super niche use. It's also too late into development of the game. Are they really supposed to spend time on such a project, when it takes just a couple minutes to access most dyes?
