    FC Chest Rework

Is there any reason why FC chests hold so little?

We can have 512 players in an FC, but we only have 5 FC Chest tabs at level 30, and each tab only has 50 spaces.

Can the rank 30 FC get a perk that increases FC chest space to at least 100 spaces per tab? I daresay it should be 200 spaces per tab for those FCs who do a lot of crafting and gathering. As it stands, I'm having to use 8 different retainers to hold items that I'd like to hold onto in case my FC members need something crafted.

We will likely never know. But I have noticed the rather long delay in refresh when changing pages.

That seems to indicate the back-end isn't very efficiently designed; or is coded with safety checks to deal with 2 or more people in there at once; or there is a network throttle; or the daemon providing the data isn't threaded, or resourced, or duplicated sufficiently; or the database table behind it is running on an old 286 precariously balanced on top of a filing cabinet in Naoki's office; or they just havn't bothered to touch the code since 2011.

It's possible more items would increase the length of that page-change delay, whatever the reason behind it is.

Oh yes, just picture the dupe bugs if they didn't check to make sure every person in there didn't end up with a copy.

The only thing I feel should absolutely be kept in a space like the FC chest are voyage materials and seeds. Everything else is pretty easy to obtain if needed. This leaves ample space for the odd items that folks might want to pass to another member.

How about a tab in the glam dresser where you just feed in the pigments, so you always have dye to work your glam plates?

In trying to work with XIV's existing systems, I'd LOVE the glamour dresser to be able to hold its own stock of dyes. That way when I'm spending some time in there, I don't have to run out and grab or craft a dye that I thought I'd try on a whim.

If we're moving into dream territory, I'd love for them to implement more of GW2's style when it comes to the dyes. In GW2, they have over 600 dyes to collect, and you only have to unlock them once. After that, they're just added to your dye palette and you can apply them with a click of a button (for free).

picture of the UI if anyone is curious

Back on topic though, my main annoyance is how long it takes to add/remove items and to swap between the tabs.

I do think that the game as a whole needs a major inventory overhaul (add specific storage for materials, dyes, bait, tokens/currencies, etc) and reduce item bloat, but I don't know if I'd include a larger FC chest in that.

When I was still in larger FCs, the chests seemed to collect a ton of random junk that really had no reason to be stored there. Results may vary though as it would depend on how involved the FC is in doing group things together (crafting, workshop crafting, helping players out with <whatever>, etc).

They're not going to do any kind of overhaul on inventory. The best they can do is keep most items relatively easy to access. The gathering overhaul was a great step towards that. They eliminated the need to hoard HQ items and also let us gather more items faster.

Where dyes are concerned, it never takes more than a couple minutes to gather whatever it is you need. Just grab a chart like this one and you're set.

The pigments can make only a small fraction of the available dyes.
That's why some dyes go for tens or hundreds of thousands of gil on the marketboard.

That said, I absolutely support the idea of being able to store dyes in the glamour chest, and being able to use those stored dyes when creating glamour plates.

I know pigments are only a part of the whole dye situation. It's basically split in 4. You have pigments, city vendors, tribe vendors and quick explore.

It's one thing to add storage to the dresser for more items. It's a whole other thing to have a slot for dye and have it interact with the plates. As nice as it would be, it's just not gonna happen. It's too much work for a super niche use. It's also too late into development of the game. Are they really supposed to spend time on such a project, when it takes just a couple minutes to access most dyes?

Probably a combination of all of them. We know that their database is a nightmare because every time they have to inevitably increase our inventory, be it our armory, the glamour dresser or the armoire for event items, it is a massive undertaking. Or in the case of ShB they removed one of our armor slots and reshuffled the inventory space that got freed up by it, most likely because giving us 50 more armory slots would've melted something.

because most likely FC chest is meant to share items and things between the whole FC, not to use it as a private storage/trade(alt)/garbage dumpster, chest thing, its very rare to see a fc use its fc chest properly and not have everyone throw in whatever trash drop they can toss in to free up inventory slot

I think the load time has more to do with checking permissions and the tabs apparently operating independent of each other.

Frankly, if anyone fills this, they need to get more organized.
