Yeah, I feel ya. This reminds me of XI when ACP first came out. There were three ways to do it: zerg via SAM stack, zerg via MNK stack, or PLD, RDM/DRK, then the rest SUM or RNG or COR. But I think XIV has been different. Where beating ACP pretty much required one of those setups it is always possible to take a balanced approach in XIV. We ran DH balanced about one week after and it worked just fine (rarely losing.)

But I sympathize with the dilemma you described. While I still believe the onus falls on the player to find/build his own group for different setups I also understand that it can take a ton of effort to find those players. And even after that some of them are bound to be new so teaching them the raid/event can be another challenge.
