member can't unlock Samurai job

One of my FC members is on PlayStation 5.

They own Endwalker (which includes all other versions of the game), they are a lvl 56 DoW, but when they attempt to unlock the Samurai Job, it tells them that it is unavailable to them.

Can anyone give me any insight into how I can assist my FC member in being able to access this part of the game? (because to my understanding they should currently meet all requirements)

So the requirements to unlock SAM are to be able to access Stormblood content (i.e. they are not on the free trial and either own the complete edition or the starter edition plus at least Stormblood, which is automatically included as a part of Endwalker) and that they have a level 50 DoW job. Since your friend meets all the criteria necessary, without any further information the only conclusion I can draw is that perhaps you friend has already accepted the quest and that's why the job appears "unavailable." I would have your friend check their quest log and see if there's a listing for the SAM job somewhere in there.

In what way does it tell them it's unavailable? He might have to finish the ARR MSQ. Not sure. Does he see the quest? Can he accept it?

Pretty sure the old requirements were just... Be Level 50, and have completed the ARR quest, The Ultima Weapon. I'm guessing he hasn't done the latter yet.

yeah you can be 56 and not have completed the ARR story yet. so make sure that they do that first, then they can pick up SAM.

Too much misinformation here. They don't need to finish ARR to unlock the job.

Other than that, I don't know what the problem could be from what you stated. My best guess would be that they mistakenly went to the Reaper unlock quest instead of the Samurai since they're both in Ul'dah and that's why it said It was unavailable to them, due to level requirement.

Sorry, some of us have been playing for a long time and did this a long time ago. I can assure you that completing the Ultima Weapon quest used to be a requirement, if it isn't anymore...fine. However, since many people will look up and verify the starting quest NPC location, I don't think they would be mistaking the reaper unlock for samurai. I'd say it's more likely they bought Endwalker and never registered the game code to their account, so it still thinks they're on the free trial.

It's just have purchased Stormblood and a DoW/M job at 50. Make sure the content is enabled on the account. You don't need to have anything else.

It never was, lol. You can even go look at the 4.0 patch notes.
