Glamour Error

I was adjusting the glamour for my summoner job and I encountered an error that, according to my google search, means that I'm trying to apply a glamour to an item with a lower iLvl.

Error: "Unable to cast glamour. Base item level cannot be lower than that of the Glamour cast."

the iLvl of the item my character currently has equipped is 530. It is the lvl 80 Augmented Cryptlurker's Mesail of Casting. The glamour I'm trying to cast on it is ilvl 520 and is the level 81 Manusya Mask of Casting.

The only reason I can see that it wouldn't work is because the job level of the equipped gear is lower than the glamour job level. Is this the reason?

The Manusya mask over the Cryptlurker's? Yeah, it won't work because of the level requirement. The game won't let you glamour higher level gear over lower level gear, for whatever reason.

The Manusya gear uses the same models as the Bonewicca gear from the Swallow's Compass, if you just wanted the appearance, but it's a different color.

It's a pretty obvious reason. You should simply wear the gear.

Not always. In this case, the level 80 Augmented Cryptlurker piece is better than the level 81 Manusya.

IL has nothing to do with it. It purely runs on equipment level.

The Manusya gear uses the same models as the Bonewicca gear from the Swallow's Compass, if you just wanted the appearance, but it's a different color.

Bonewicca is a lot more painful to get, though, because it's entirely RNG-dependent and you don't get free pieces.

Also, i530 vs i520 is hardly a big deal on a single piece for a DPS. It's probably only a one-point reduction on your overall IL to throw out the Cryptlurker hat and wear the Manusya mask directly.
