Log-in/Loyalty rewards?

The title speaks for itself, I tried to do a quick search for a relative thread and didn\\'t find a post along these lines.
Now I love final fantasy, and I\\'m not bashing the veterans rewards, their okay.. but almost every other mmo(that\\'s good) on the market rewards players new and old alike for logging in - either during events or during thier first few weeks/days of playing. now the game is great as is, and I don\\'t want to detract from anyone\\'s experience or expectations. I just feel that for the amount we pay for playing this game, both in subscriptions and expansions Square should be rewarding its player\\'s for Loyalty.

The game does reward you for logging in for events, you get the event rewards and a nice story without having to pay in the shop for items and lose it on the story a year later.
That's one of the two things going against their philosophy of not trapping the player into having to log in or lose out.

The reward for loyality and what you pay for is all the things you can do in this game.

Thanks for the intelligent response Ilisidi, I do admit the amount of good content in the game is staggering and that alone is grounds for my sub.. don't free players have access to all the event content as well now tho? I get the log-in trap argument, that IS pretty lame in some mmos.
I guess I'm just saying I'd like to see something else from square for all of us players - for the price.. (maybe they can pretend that they have to compete with other mmos?)

And Drwho2010, I didn't compare this game to gatcha, nor would I.. I admit it's been a few years because I've been preoccupied with ff14, but I clearly remember other mmo's I've played namely black desert, blade&soul, terra, neverwinter, eso and a few others all had/have a little reward system that gives players stuff when they log in.. I do understand there are gatcha games with something similar, but mmo's are entirely different.

We have veteran rewards, but first they changed them into something smaller and then stopped updating them because they say they feel that a newbie should always be able to catch up.

It's not they don't care about veterans anymore, more that SE realized that it would be increasingly difficult for players just joining to get the best rewards unless they had been playing since the beginning (at the time the Veteran Reward system was changed, the highest reward that could be gained was Squall's Dissidia attire which naturally everyone wanted, but you basically had to have been playing for 3 years by that stage to get it - as you couldn't bulk purchase 3-years worth of subscription time at once, players complained about it).

Not surprisingly, SE changed it accordingly - the 'gear' rewards were given to the new 'Achievement Points' system, and the amount of 'Veteran Reward' tiers was reduced to 4, and the subscription time required to attain them was reduced.

Login rewards are mostly to encourage players to play in online games where player population is declining, or in online games which are at their effective 'end' and so it doesn't really matter too much. As FFXIV is neither, I don't see SE adding such a system for the foreseeable future (FFXI has it because that game is in it's Indian Summer and has a small player population).

Perhaps another option could be as in so much, if not say like a monthly log in specific item, currency or special item for logged/subbed so many days, they could do something like have a special item that is received for each year you remain a player. So perhaps on your anniversary, you characters on your service account get say maybe a special food similar to like a Nameday Cake as well as maybe a special item, like a special glam item or such or whatever sort of thing, and the in-game mail would say something like "Thank you for your many years of faithful service to the community. Happy (insert years playing) anniversary from the FFXIV team!"
