Ishgard Restoration Alchemist: high collectibility with only NQ gathered mats?

This probably doesn't warrant a thread but I'm pulling my hair out with the tedium. All of the skybuilders recipe's for the restoration typically have at least one crafted or gathered material to complete the craft. When it came to jobs that utilized crafted materials such as ingots or whetstones this was easy. Make a few HQ variants and you could easily max out the collectibility of the craft before turn in. My problem however lays with the recipes that are punctuated with a gathered material, which as of 6.0, you can no longer obtain HQ gathered materials.

The problem is that Ishgard Restoration recipes were not re-scaled to accommodate this change and I now find myself struggling to reliably make it to even the second tier of collectibility on these crafts unless RNG good / excellent procs are in my favor. Grade 4 Skybuilders' Soap (Alchemist) for example requires 2 "Bear Fat" per craft, a monster drop item that can only be acquired in NQ form now. The soap however has a max quality of 9900 and the second tier of collectibility begins at 800, the third at 900. I am struggling to make it to even 700 without the boost an HQ mat would give me when the craft begins.

Even with food buffs, materia, and HQ crafting gear (or scrip crafting gear sans materia) I am struggling to get beyond tier one collectibility. I've tried various rotations with only middling success, most of which is chalked up to lucky rng procs.

Am I doing something wrong or is this really just a case of needing to get lucky as they didn't scale down the collectibility to account for a lack of HQ mats to help boost you?

Edit: Searching a few other threads had this document mentioned. Its rotation is helping immensely. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...bxaas/preview#

The recipes weren't scaled around using HQ materials in the first place so there was no reason to adjust them differently for those that have no materials that can be HQ.

They also weren't designed for the third tier to be reached easily using macros. Crafters are expected to make proper use of Good/Excellent procs when they occur.

I'm glad you found a rotation that's helping you. The main thing to keep in mind is that crafting is very stat dependent. The better your stats (never undervalue CP), the easier it is to get HQ/best rating. It's worth upgrading at least your tools when you can if not the rest of your gear when you find yourself struggling.

May I please know your lvl and your 3 stats after food?
I can help with suggesting rotations or macros.

I ran into this same issue leveling everything from 70 to 80, when my final two crafters (ALC and CUL) didn't have the HQ luxury.

    My experience:

For all other crafters that used HQ mats, this was easy. A simple 1-button macro for the mat, another 1-button for the final product. Didn't even need food, and I'm too lazy to use anything but easy scrip 70 gear.
ALC and CUL, needed to approach a little more carefully. Food was basically required, and in the end the macro I settled on was 2-button (tho, that seems pretty standard for more difficult/longer crafts). I think it still struggled to hit the cap every time, but it was still reliably getting high enough.

In the end, I found the macros I settled on were a bit outside my usual approach, which made it more difficult to work out at first. It's a bit harder to see where an Observe combo might turn out more efficient, or knowing exactly how many Great Strides you can fit in.
But, if you're just looking to blindly find/follow a macro.... eh, that's what several sites out there provide these days. Not too proud to admit I've been turning to solvers when I know it's within reach.

Fortunately, beginning to poke into expert recipes, so, looking forward to getting back into manual crafting with some real thinking.
