Are they advertising RP venues, or are they advertising ERP? There is a difference.
Just turn off shout chat. That will take care of the majority of advertisement span.I personally have nothing against ERP or any kind of venues/advertisements (as long as the advertisement itself isn't explicit) just wish they'd use the "Other" section for PF exclusively. Being spammed with any kind of advertisement- giveaways, venues, FCs, etc. is kinda rude and annoying to spam in a chat in my opinion. Maybe even just add another category in PF for RP advertising.
They only ban the urls only if the the ad also says (18+), Adults Only, NSFW, ect with the url. They dont ban the url if it leads to any of these until the message outright says it does.
I remember in GW when Dhuum would rise out of the ground and scythe a player to death when they got banned... (i'll admit that i'm maybe a victim of nostalgia and i may not be remembering clearly)
It used to be a big deal and everyone agreed it was worth the show and humiliation to discourage the kind of behaviour they got banned for. Nowadays, for every company, it's all smoke and mirrors in an attempt to fake that they care and that they're doing something, while in reality they don't give less of a fudge as they don't want to ban paying customers.
The worship of the bottom line is the bane of my existence.
Then just… don’t visit the café then? Why does it matter if the event is on private property? Simply knowing about its existence shouldn’t offend you.

Stop trying to police other people, and police yourself.
One thread wasnt enough
How to avoid ERP:
Never go to Ul'dah (Sorry newbies who picked it as a starting city)
