How much longer for Seventh Umbral Era content?

In the recent letter that Yoshi-P put out, he stated that Seventh Umbral Grand Company quests won't be around "for much longer." Can a dev give a timeframe for what he meant by this? My understanding was that it was going to be around until 2.0 lands... but I'll be pretty bummed if he actually means, like, another month. ; ;

Pretty sure he's just referring to the fact that it won't be "much longer" until 2.0 is here. It's only about 4-5 months until beta starts (hopefully).

To be fair, most seventh umbral era content has an even shorter timespan. All the stuff like the garlean invasions are only around for a little while, before they get replaced with something new. I'm pretty sure, though, that the things like Grand Company quests will be around until 2.0

I'm curious how much longer the 7th Umbral Era stuff will be around for myself. We know at least it will continue on through July, since the Legatus battle is coming with the next big patch and is scheduled for Julyish. Beyond August, though, I'm not sure. Hopefully someone official can respond with a definitive answer.

I dont think any of the grand company quests we currently have will be in 2.0 because there is a lot of cutscenes that evolve around dalamud and the impending doom thats coming, which will have passed when 2.0 is out. There will most likely be new company quests to replace them for new recruits and onwards, also something about the erozian alliance is mentioned.

If you want my advice it would be to get all the GC quests done asap, there will proabably be some more for the final patch 1.23 leading to the Legatus battle.

The primal repeatables (hard modes) im sure will stay, they wont get rid of all those primal fights, its to much content.

It's only for the PS3 version a beta. For the PC version it's a free trial version

・Post-January 2013

1.0 end the moment the 2.0 free trial period start, I would say.

Thats a good question, I never really thought about ver 1.x and 2.0 co-existing side by side during the "beta" period.

I'm assuming, that some time in september-october we will download the 2.0 client. Then in November we'll have an extended maintenance 12-24 hours while the character info from 1.x is transfered to the 2.0 servers. When maintenance is done, the 1.x client is obsolete, we'll only be able to log in using the 2.0 client, effectively all current subscribers start a free play period and "beta" test the 2.0 client until January when the game is re-launched.

However doing it that way leaves a lot of "end game" players not testing or playign early game content for what thats worth. I guess it'll be up to the returners and ps3 testers to play through that content.
